Le Mirage by Sjors - FINISHED - Corel - Wood - 1:75

Recommended Posts

Hi Sjors,

It looks like you've pulled the extra ratlines a bit too tight - the aft shroud has distorted quite a lot. The shrouds should be VERY tight before you tie the ratlines, or it will always happen. Can you still adjust the shrouds tighter?

  Danny

Cheers, Danny

Sjors..... thank you for the picture :) ..... between you and me , I like the way you had the ratlines the first time . I know it may not be correct, but to me they looked much better, for some reason it looks a little crowded right now, but that's just me, you do what you think is best . Danny is right about the shrouds though, they are being pulled in. What do you call those guys that help you with the ratlines , Gommes??. Well you might have to start paying them some overtime to get things straightened out :D  :D  :D

@ Danny,

Thank you for the tip…..

I see exactly what you mean…..

I shall see what I can do.

I thought the shrouds where that tight that I can play on it like a guitar….. ;)

Maybe it is better to remove the extra ratlines and tight them up again but not to tight?

I will see what's happening….

@ Frank,

Your welcome for the picture  :D

I like it also how it looks without the extra ratlines but the distance is indeed to far form each other.

So…..extra ratlines needed.

Sometimes you have to do things that you don't like but to make it more real you have to do it .

That's also modelling.

Hi Sjors,

With doubled lines it's more beatiful... Really...

Have you treated the ratlines with any solution? The upper ratlines look rigid a little so to say... If the shrouds are tight enough, the upper ratlines would be sagging, I suppose...

HI Ferit,

I have use a little beeswax before I put them on.

I have re-do a few ratlines and I hope that this is it what Danny means.

2 pictures….one a little further and one closer.

So let me know what you are thinking of it.

If you don't like it, please say so.

I don't remove them again  :P  :P  :P  :P  :P

That's looking much better Sjors.

One tip you might like to try that will help to avoid the problem you just corrected, is to tie every fifth ratline row first, then go back and tie the row in the middle of these (ie the third row) then come back and tie the remainder (ie 2nd and 4th rows). It sounds complicated but is really very easy. I used different coloured highlighter pens on the card template to help keep things straight in my head. Doing it this way helps to keep an even tension on the shrouds and prevents them forming an hour-glass shape.

Very nice re-do, Commodore!  The shrouds hang nice and straight now, and the ratlines look realistic - not perfectly tight but just the right amount of sag.  Please congratulate the gnomes - they done good!

Frank should be happy now - plenty of pictures the past few days!

Hi All,

I can finally answer you….

I had a broken shift today so between the shifts I was at home and re-do the ratlines.

Then posted it and I want to give a replay….wrong ! I had to run for my second part of my shift

Almost to late!

@ Kevin, Thanks

@ Randy,

You can do it !!!! I know you can !!!!!

And early in the morning is no problem if you had the rest of the day for your self…...

I'll be waiting for an update from you.

@ Grant,

Thanks also.

And thanks for the tip !

I shall look in Anja's her colour box to see what I can found  :D  :D

And lucky for me….I have a lot more to do to find out if it works... :D  :D  :D  :D

@ Mobbsie,

I think that Frank have to listen to you….or not ? ;)
