Anna Maria 1694 by firdajan - FINISHED - CARD - 1:96

Recommended Posts

Thank you, friends, for your comments.

Daniel Caramango: some carvings are cutted from paper, then hardened by superglue, figures are made from modurit - it is the plastic modeling mass hardening by boiling or baking.

I made some parts of decoration - roman soldiers ( I hope it looks like soldiers, I´m not very good sculptor and figures are just 25 mm long ), pedestals, molding on the stern and two little carvings on the bow, catheads, gun carriages ( simple ones I glued inside the ship ) and gun barrels. Just gunports lids and the lamp are missing.

My friends...

I finally found a time for continuing...and made some deadeyes and tops, so I could start with standing rigging. I hope to have more time now.

It took me a long time ( because of different reasons ) to continue, but I´m still working on the ship.

Masts and standing rigging are completed.

It's great to see you back, Jan.  The model is beautiful.   As for being gone for a period of time... it's not a problem as life gets in the way of model building.

Beautiful work, Jan. Really impressive.

I wonder why they had all the guns in the after half of the ship. It seems like a very strange decision. Perhaps to make better room for cargo in the fore half?

Thank you, friends, for your replies.

Louie da fly: probably yes, if you have as a cargo some logs or planks or boards, you need a place. But if you want to know more, please ask Abhovi.

I completed all the yards 😊 and start to make ribs for parrals. I also ordered 1,4 mm beads for them.

And I have to produce some blocks...a lot of blocks...

I agree with Steven/Louie.  Marvelous work.  Somewhere down the line I am planning to build a model of an English cargo ship used for transporting immigrants to America in 1683.  It appears to be based on a pinas, similar to the flyte in many respects.  I am using Ab Hoving's plans but will be relying on your build log for inspiration.

...but first I have to finish the 2 cogs and 1 carrack currently on the drawing board (that Louie tempted me into).

I very much appreciate the extent to which you detail the stages and methods of your build. Unfortunately I forgot to ask about the construction of the deck and planking which looks very good. Are the planks made of card, cut into strips and glued on a base, then painted? Or are they wood strips?

Also, how did you make the gratings?

Thanks,

Tony
