Bismarck by Semorebutts - FINISHED - Trumpeter - 1/200 scale - PLASTIC - with MK1 detail set

Your right Popeye. Now that I'm in Salem NH  I dont know if there are any hobby stores around here.  I used to have Hobby Bunker near boston.

But I just got an email from the seller saying the correct item has shipped first class mail. Also no need to return the other one.  So I am very happy with how he handled it. I will absolutely shop there again.

most sellers are pretty decent......good that there was a happy ending.   I remember back in my younger days....we had a shop in Manchester called the 606.   they were my go to place.......they sadly closed up shop in the 80's,  not long after my 5 year residence in Florida.   I used to go to HobbyTown,  when they were located on South Willow St,  but they have since relocated to Londonderry / Derry..........I haven't been to their new place yet.   Hobby Lobby has been good,  but their selection is not as good as HobbyTown.  I pity my wallet,  should I take the time to seek them out........I will definitely ransack the place ;)   the admiral I think knows this,  because every time I bring them up,  she suggests alternate place to go.   online shopping has made a huge impact on going to a physical store.

The smarter online sellers realize that customer relations on line is just as important on line as it is in person if they want the customer to return. the not having to send to item back is because by the time they pay the shipping as Amazon requires them to do they end up paying more than the paint is worth to them.

Glad it worked out for you.

Youngsters are into building kits anymore. And a lot of oldsters, too. Prebuilt planes and trains are in. Craftsmanship is growing more uncommon.

Hey guys, sorry I've been so slow, I've been so busy. I'm all caught up now for weekends so I have free time again.

Anyway i found one of the radars from the bismarck on the floor and stepped on. Lucky me I still have trumpters photo etch radars. Time to paint and assemble 1 more radar.

  • 2 weeks later...

The main guns are done and installed onto the Bismarck!  And only 3 months after starting on the guns! They are not glued on yet... not sure if I should even glue them on.  I like having the option of aiming them anywhere I want at anytime.  Anyway here are some high quality iphone photos.

notice the 2 railings on the deck. They just fell off while she was being stored. I never thought CA glue could just let go like that.

A  Little bit more progress today. Six more guns assembled and ready for paint. Along with the replacement radar.

I hesitate to close up the radar box before painting for fear of not getting all the nooks and crannies.

I just painted 6 more guns.  Now just to paint the blast bags, Shade them and install them.  I'm not  sure if the blast bags should be painted the same color as the 16 inch guns blast bags. Or if they should be a different color.

It looks fantastic. I'm really hoping that Trumpeter release a 1:200 King George V and 1:200 Yamato so I can build "the big 4" battleships of WW2.

With the crazy high prices and interest modelers show in the antiquated 1:200 Nichimo Yamato kit, I have to believe there would be a market for a newly tooled 1:200 Yamato. And if they added a 1:200 KGV too, that would be magical.

A  Little bit of progress is being made today. first I painted all the plastic bags.

I'm going to continue working on these now. Hopefully I finish them today because I really want to see them on the Bismarck.
