Thank you all very much for the comments and the likes!

It took me until cannon 8 (7 long and 1 medium) to recall my methodology that I used for the cannons on the Prince de Neufchatel.

It works much better if I put the main contour on the barrel and THEN put the rings on instead on adding the contour of the barrel, ring by ring.

Number six has major issues.  I know this.  It will also not be particularly visible as it belongs on the upper gundeck and will be covered with the ship’s boats.

I am glad that you like the carving.  I learned from this forum, with the learn to carve group project.

I finished the second medium 12 and carved the first two short 12’s.  The third is nearly done, but I broke it and now it needs to dry before I can put the last band on and bore it out.AD02935F-D1FB-497E-9DCF-34C84382738F.thumb.jpeg.d3dda623db36c93273103a2c9be875b4.jpegB183392E-CCA0-4F11-8366-188FF262738D.thumb.jpeg.7bf652ab7b25cd38b80e5bf638e16dfa.jpeg

I made my trunnions.  I made the pivot points that the carronades mount into.

I now have to make a decision about my cannons.  The eyebolts at scale would be too small to thread a breech rope through unless I use thread like I did on the gunport lids.

If I don’t want to use eyebolts then I can make dummy eyebolts and wrap the breech rope around the cascabel, French style (yes this is a British ship, hence the debate).

Did you pick those carriages up at ikea 😉?

Everything is looking really nice; I’m still staring at the carved cannons, very well done!

I did.  I found them on clearance, lol.

Seriously, though, thank you very much!

The cannon barrels are painted black.  I’ll add the faux metallic effects to make them look like cast iron after I put them on their carriages.

I have been cutting out pieces for the long 12’s carriages.

Thank you very much!

The ten carriages for the long twelves and the two for the medium twelve pound bow chasers are made.  I still need to paint them.  I’ll paint them after I make the last six for the short twelves.

Thanks, OC!

I assembled the carriages for the short twelves.

While I wait for those to dry, I am going to start working on tracing out the sleds for the carronades.

After they dry, I’ll paint them and then drill holes for the eyebolts.

I’m using the Tichy HO scale eyebolts again due to the diameter of the thread I’ll need to stay in scale. They will be inside the hull, so I shouldn’t have problems with them breaking again.

Just for the record, this will probably be the last sailing ship that I build, for myself, at this small of scale.  The rest of mine will most likely be at 1/72, like the Prince de Neufchatel.
