Xmas?  Xmas is coming?  Man, how time flies, I better get going and prep.  Well, actually I have been busy gathering recipes for our daughter's visit with us. She's a vegan and doesn't eat meat, perhaps only salmon.  She wants bitterballen!  So, I'll use mushrooms instead, like shiitaki.

Modeling is on the back burner for now but the urge is growing though.  Yup, I'm totally suppressed with the weather, we had some VERY cold nights and days - all the way down to 7C at night but it kinda warmed up during the day to 12C.  I actually had to put a flannel shirt on with ling pants and socks and shoes 😉

Cheers,

Piet, The Flying Dutchman.

Thanks Pat, much appreciated

Added some ammo boxes, broke the top of the for'ard mast, so I've got some renovating to do. Whats left ... well ... working on the rear tripod, some touch up paintwork, the railings, a quad pompom which will arrive January next, rudder, anchors, need to give the hull a mat varnish, and after that the screws ... ah yes ... OC's favorite: rigging ... Still looking for some anchor chains at scale ... very hard to come by

Youns have a great 2019 Carl.

Anchor chain? I used the smallest necklace I could find in the local craft shop for my Java build.  Didn't look out of place.

Just to annoy, but, North Star make some very small chain links you can make very realistic chain from. But it hurts. A lot. And takes forever.

I'm looking for the easy way out mate, not the painful ... unlike you I'm not a glutton for punishment ;)

Got the quad 2pdr pompoms today from North Star, just the parts cut from the brass "sprue" (saw I need to cut two more to make it complete) It's a resin and brass sub build I might say. Barrels in top left corner.

They look almost identical to the 1.1" Quads I ordered from Veteran Models. The barrels look like legs from an ant! I will be looking forward to seeing how you are able to do with them! Good luck.

It took me two months to get my MK 6 catapults from North Star How long did your guns take?

Hello Pat.

Good to have you with us. Hmmm ... viewing from a safe distance ... and I thought downunder was far enough ... now the back row as well ... Actually I would say I took a liking to the R.N ships ... a bit like British classic cars ... they've got soul ...

I've started on the quad ... first breathless steps ;)

I know that you are not finished with the first gun as yet but I for one am very impressed Carl. I know just how small this gun assembly is in real life! Your work looks perfect even at the extremely close range it takes to even see it!

Might be a little bit of jealousy regarding your abilities as well. Truly astounding.
