That's excellent PE work on the AA batteries. Are you using after-market and, if so, which brand please.

You are so right about having the right tools for the job.

Has anyone ever bought anything from Shapeways? They're a service where people can upload 3D models of things and you can pay to have them printed. They have a bunch of 1/200 stuff for the Missouri. I've bought stuff from them before for other projects and it's really good quality.

The guy who does a lot of ship stuff has his own website and, although a lot of his stuff is in 1/192 scale, he can re-calibrate a lot of models for 1/200.

I’ve gotten a few things from 3D printers,, they’re amazing. Model Monkey has separated from Shapeways so their products are cheapest and in the US for you yanks.

back to this, looking great with the details, I couldn’t go up to 1/200 as I couldn’t fit it in my study.

Same here old shop towel or tissue.  I have some old cloth shop towels that should be tossed that use for this.

I do as well - pain to try to sand it so I wipe up as much as possible.  It's taught me to be a little more careful with how much glue I add.

then I had some PE work to do with the floater nets and the guns

and then those were ready for paint also

then finally when those were painted I could install everything onto the deck

does anyone have any experience with cordless air brushes? I just seen them for the first time and I am very curious as to if they are good or not.

Wow, those are beautiful!  Nice job!

Can't say I've even heard of cordless air brushes.  How do you attach the air source if cordless?  If you have to attach a can to the brush directly, seems like it might be a bit awkward to handle for doing detail work, but maybe it actually works just fine?

Mike, either an electric, battery run, mini compressor directly attached to it, or a pressured cannister. I've seen them, but it looks rather clumsy to me. I prefer the pencil shape without the encumbrance of an "airpressure unit", however small, attached ot it

Hi Scott,

Great build so far.  I hate to change topics, but I sent you a question at the very end of the last page of your Bismarck build.  I was hoping you could answer it on that build page.  It is reference which Tamiya Gray colors you used on your Bismarck model relative to the hull, superstructure, etc..

Thanks

Wolfman
