Hi everybody,

Top and poop  decks is temporarily fixed as well as the bulwark patterns in order to mark out the first planks. I test fitted dowels for the fore mast, main mast and mizzen mast. The dowels show perfect alinement! Next step will be some balsa around the bow and after that start of first planking. 😎

Kind regards

Henrik

Test fit of a 9 pdr cannon. The grand admiral looked at the cannon and said it was cute. I wonder what Nelson would have said?

I believe that Nelson served a tour as Captain of HMS AGAMEMNON, describing her as his favorite.  However, I could be wrong.

Bill, according to wikipedia (which can be wrong too), The future Lord Nelson served as Agamemnon's captain from January 1793 for 3 years and 3 months, during which time she saw considerable service in the Mediterranean.

Read "Nelson's Favourite HMS Agamemnon at War 1781-1809" by Anthony Deane. It's a very interesting biography of the ship.

Thanks for all likes and nice comments from KJacksonb from "down under" 🙂. Or am I upside down? Anyhow, planking of quarter deck is in progress.

It has been awhile since my last post. I have been feeling unwell and was diagnosed with depression last month. It took some time for me to realize I was need of professional help, which I get now. My psychologist is encouraging me to take up my modelling hobby although my mojo is not there. So as part of my therapy to recovery I post this picture of Agamemnon as of today.

Henrik - Glad to hear you are well on your way to a sound and healthy recovery. Your Aggie is a beautiful ship and I’m sure you will be back at it when the time is right. Take care my friend:)

For some reason I can't see the images in your last three posts, is it just me? Tried a different browser but no go. They just appear as links, and when I click on them, there's an icon of a broken image.

Edit: Bruce beat me to it by the 6 minutes it took me to write my post. Getting old...

I was wondering: what method are you using to darken the spaces between the deck planks? It doesn't look like the usual method of using a lead pencil, which I'm not too fond of because of the silvery grey appearance. This looks much better.

First of all I am sorry for the lost pictures. It seems to be something with the web browser. In Chrome it looks OK but in Edge the pictures are lost. I have not had this problem before.....

And then to Montaigne's question about the caulking imitation. I have been using a moderately pointed black brush pen with which I stroke the edges. The last one I bought in a book store. I think it is a pen intended for calligraphy.

Best regards

After some fiddling with missing pictures I hope I have solved the problem. I can now see the missing pictures in another web browser.

Looking good Henke!

I see that you keep the gun tackles to a minimum, which I think is a sensible choise. If not done exactly to scale, gun tackles can definitely bug up an otherwise nice ship model.

There will be more than enough details when the rigging comes together to "oh" and "ah" over in the end 😉

Keep it up!

Happy modelling!

Håkan

Thanks for all the likes and comments. I do not know if I deserve it but at least it is encouraging. I am not a very skilled modeler but at least this shows what can be achieved with with a well thought out model as Caldercraft's Agamemnon in combination with perseverance. This week's work has been focused om the hammock cranes along the sides. I hope the pictures are OK. I see the model is a bit dusty....
