Well, they do yes, that being said, if it has to do with drying paint, drying decals, or drying anything else on a model, it is best to let nature take it's course..... (I learned this a number of years ago, read as decades ago, that all heated forced air does well is melt and deform plastic or hard shell and crack paint and split decals.... But then that is only my experiences, others may have different experiences..... One thing and one thing alone works well on model finishes... the old standby, time and patience..... If you can brother, lay off the blow drying as much as possible.... Old Collingwood Posted June 20, 2020 Author Share #98 Posted June 20, 2020 I do agree with the caution note on uisng a hardryer "but" up untill my recent canopy error - I have never had any issues, its low powered dryer used on its low setting and just giving out more of a warm heat than and intense one, it was Fully my own fault over the canopy as I wasn't paying attention or concentrating and left it too close to the canopy for too long. I would never use it on decals but the gentle heat does help the paintwork and does help to speed things up abit so work can take less time. But thak you all for the heads up about using intense heat.👍 OC. All plastic kitbashes of basic cars into something modified to a greater or lesser degree. They're a lot of fun, re-engineering the basics into the desired cars. Old Collingwood Posted June 22, 2020 Author Share #102 Posted June 22, 2020 Evening all, More progress tonight - I fitted the rear tail dragger wheel and painted/weathered, then I sat her on her wheels for the first time Then it was time to make the spinner and props - but could i find the frame for the props to fit in (not a chance) so I found a round collar and ligned the props up at 90deg and ran my round file to create some cut out, then I sat the props and applied a good measure of glue to fix them. I returned to the bench and found the props/frame glued down to my cutting mat - so eased away with my knife, I saved the spacing by glueing the assembly inside the spinner cone and set them up aligned. After a few hours I was able to handle the assembly and paint them Sky/Nato Black - I fineished off by adding the one decal on each prop, then glued it in place on the front. OC. Roger I think they were very popular because of thier great agility and turn of speed, the vesion I built had the same engine (with a few Naval mods) as the Spitfire IX and that was some machine able to out run and out fly a FW190 (and thats saying something) they carried the addional tank under the belly to extend the range as in fairness the Seafire and Spit did mot have a massive range on pure frame tanks, this did reduce there max speed a bit though but it was still very very good.
