Not sure  when I will  be back on this  - I will be honest  I have been  frighten'd by our  price increase  in energy  - gas and electric, they  estimate it will be  300%  more   each  year,   that has led  to me  to become a bit  OCD   about  using  electric  things around the house  - especially  my  modelling lamp  on my bench,   we  have even  stopped  using our  cooker  - only  using our  microwave  for meals  now,   and even the  kettle for drinks  I have started  only  boiling  a bare min  for  our cups.

The increase  in power  charges   is  Ridiculous.

the UK like many euro countries are struggling to meet fuel demands, the Putin war, post pandemic, even brexit have had an effect, energy companies keep raising the price cap set for energy, even ours has gone up 100% and we are using about 1/2 of what was used last year. the nicer weather has helped keep the costs down, it will level off sometime next year,

however some customers are facing higher bills depanding on how they pay for it, like pre-payment

the government are helping out, but for some it is not enough to keep up with the extra problems we are facing with inflation/cost of living

Indeed Kevin,

The say the cap for most is going to be about  £3000 + a year  thats about  £300  a month   compared to under £100  a month we was  topping up   - crazy times.

The spike in energy prices in Europe is very unsettling. I completely understand your concern over the need to conserve. I'm heading over there next month to make sure my 97year old dad is ready winter. His heating comes from an oil fired boiler . No prizes for guessing where the cost of fuel oil has gone.

Good luck OC. The diorama will wait until the time is right

Sorry to hear that OC.  Seems inflation brought on by the virus and the latest war is hitting everyone.  And don't get me started on the stock market bombing here in the States as that's were my retirement fund was put.  Not my choice when it happened but I have to live with it.

O.k. thanks,

I'm getting the picture....

Not a very good situation at all.

I guess I'm lucky to be where I live, insulated from terrible energy costs.

(NZ is mostly Hydro.)

I do hope things improve....

Hi Harry,

Had family that farmed nearby so was fun to see Manaia pop up.  The other issue in the UK is the houses are centrally heated which is great, I struggle when I go back to NZ but it does mean they use more energy.

OC - hope you get back into it I have had to put my village on hold with renovations etc and was looking through your log for inspiration, your figure painting is a really high standard and would love to see if finished.

Hi OC,

Just an idea that occurred to me, you've probably already thought about it....

Would a small Solar Panel, 6 or 12V battery and some LED type work lights be an option?

Hopefully you won't have to wait much longer OC.   I've been missing my mojo lately also.  Could be weather or maybe just real life stuff.
