Actually, Jud, house-training a dog is a whole lot easier than most people realize. It just takes a bit of patience and the need to pay very close attention to your puppy for about three to four days. Training should start as soon as the dog is walking on her own.

All that is needed is to follow the doggie around closely for those first few days. The trick is that the very moment you notice the dog start to squat down, you interrupt her toilet intentions by clapping your hands loudly near her (to break her train of thought), then (still clapping) lead her outside to her designated toilet spot (it's essential that she learns to walk there by herself).

Now just wait. It won't take very long. As soon as the dog has done her business, reward her with heaps of praise and a treat.

Repeat this process after all meal-times, and whenever you see the dog going into a squat, for the next few days.

Naturally, an open door or fitted doggie-door is essential so that the dog can get outside by herself.

Have a section of garden reserved just for the dog to use as a toilet. You will need to bury any doggie-droppings regularly. Do this in the same spot, as the dog will come to recognize the smell as being her toilet place.

The Old Wives' tale of rubbing their nose in the mess is actually counter-intuitive as, most of the time, the dog is being punished for something that happened hours beforehand. They cannot associate the crime with the punishment.

Sorry to hijack your build-log, Nenad.

Rhea eats my daily (evening) free time I used for modeling. If I want Her to sleep over night, I have to play with her and to make Her very very tired before I go to sleep. So ...

But there is something ... On Saturday, in Belgrade will be Modelers competition I visit every year. Considering a lot of sponzors selling their products related to modeling will be there, I plan to bye a new cutting mat, and to try it, trying to make one boat from card/paper. That is someyhing I was thinking of those days. I can sit and work in kitchen with Her arround my legs. I do not allow Her to go down to my workshop, because near is Princess's cat closet, and unapropriate and forbiden dinner can be served, which I do not allow Her in any circumstances

Thx Michael

Having in mind that distance between ribs is only 5 mm, a bit approx. approach can be tolerate. I do not dare to dig out curve lines with this method for something larger than 7cm. In this scale it can pass. This days I will print drawing of ribs on selfadhesive paper and glue it to card from paper folder, cut and join as template for paper "planking"

Material used: 0,5mm card for ribs and keel, regular 80gr printing paper for planking

So, I cut ribs and glued them... It looks promissing ...

And started planking trying to simulate specific way of planking on CS boats ( plank over plank) ...

But ...

I realized that I did not cut ribs precise enough, and did not glue them precise ...

post-4738-0-66661400-1481919478_thumb.jpg

Ugly

Lesson learned, and some conclusions

Moulding just has to be solid, or ribs have to be lasser cuted. I prefer first option, because I am not able to cut and glue so precise - 0,5 mm mistake left hole or mountain in hull lines. working with solid moulding alow me to install and glue as first layer inner ribs, and planks over it

Planking with paper will be ok if I make nice moulding with soft lines. Keel has to be made of something harder than card.

After glue dry, whole structure is fragile, but strong enough to allow additional works

Of course, my drawings have to be adjusted for new approach

Having in mind that all four boats are very very visible and at the first line of looking, particulary their white color is in contrast to cabin's roofs color, and that I intend to left them opened to half (simillar as I did with hatches), all boats have to be made just - perfect!!!

Wheels in my brain have to turn some more rounds untill final solution

It was nice to play again, never mind it was unsuccessfull

What about trying the bread-and-butter style for making your boats, Nenad ??

You'd have to cut about five or six "slices" for each boat and glue them together. Each slice would look like an oval-shape, with the centre removed. One slice would be solid, for the bottom. If you cut the slices from thick card, and staggered them when gluing together, then it could look like clinker planking (somewhat).

Then just fit a false keel, fake ribs, seats, oars and sails.

Hey Nenad....

Been there - done that.

My heart goes out to you my friend.

I agree with CapSteve's suggestion.... bread and butter construction.

Take a look at the launch I just finished for my Sovereign of The Seas.

Once you get the hull shaped up. all the false ribs can be glued into the interior very easily, and you have a nice outer shape to apply hull planking, transom, rudder, and false keel.

Nenad,

Nice work.  We always seem to be building the same parts over and over.

I was rigging last night and re-made the same fish tackle 4 times.  The third time I used a flame to burn off the little fine hairs on the line and forgot that I had waxed the line earlier with a wax solvent mixture that apparently wasn't fully dried.  The line which was rigged on the ship went up in flames instantly.  luckily it only burnt the one line and didn't hurt the ship or any other rigging.   So I won't be using any techniques with open flames anywhere near the ship going forward.

every trial is an opportunity to learn - hopefully!

Marc
