CDW Posted January 22, 2021 Author Share #9 Posted January 22, 2021 (edited) I looked up the Plasmo video. He built the Ninja H2R version, whereas mine is the H2 Carbon. I know they are at least slightly different, not sure how much different. A different set of exhaust/mufflers for sure, maybe more than that. I'm not much interested in the photo etch, but the sets available are made for the H2R, not the H2 Carbon. Again, not exactly certain of the differences, maybe small, maybe larger, I just don't know for sure. Here is the engine block assembled with a coat of gray Mr Surfacer 1500. Covers up the much of the seam lines nicely. Some will need additional filler. If the latter, can I ask what you thin it with and in what proportions? I really like Mr. Surfacer as a base prime coat, but have been using the rattle cans for ease of use. I find they don't have the spitting issues that you get with some of the Tamiya rattle cans (though, I recently sprayed some Tamiya Insignia White from the rattle can without any issues at all). I use the bottled Mr Surfacer primers and always reduce them with Leveling Thinner. I use Leveling Thinner on all Mr Color and Tamiya paint products to reduce my paint. It dries a bit slower than their standard thinner, which is also of very good quality. The leveling thinner just allows the paint to self level more proficiently. I am not a big fan of spray cans but do use them every now and then on some larger sized projects. The final frame color will be a transparent green over the silver. CDW Posted January 27, 2021 Author Share #29 Posted January 27, 2021 Moving ahead with the construction and painting of the swing arm, shock absorber, disk brake, drive chain, rear wheel and tire assemblies. There was quite a bit of detail painting as well as some decal work involved. All went together flawlessly albeit tedious due to the various steps involved in painting everything. All the lightening holes in the brake disks had to be drilled out one by one. Paints used are a combination of Tamiya, AK Extreme Metal, and even some Testors enamel for the chrome silver used on the wheel.
