I had Eduard, Flyhawk, and Pontos for Musashi, actually still do. I used Flyhawk for carpeted parts as replacement, and Eduard, for other models where I could use PE. Pontos was/is by far the best of the three

 

You could add some more ... still enough deck visible for some trucks, rockets and other items

Looks great Greg.  Any idea what those dark circles were on the Cats from the pictures?  Didn’t look like there was structural damage there but almost looked like a burn of some sort.

Yeah - those circle type markings.  I saw them on the picture, just wondering what they could be from.

I think they are the seam lines on the wings were painted maybe as a weatherproofing as did transport last it’s the only thing that makes sense to me

I’m in the process of adding the life rafts. These sit along the gantries, the PE set gives you netting which runs purportedly along the railings but the reference photos show them at 45 degrees with a railing running along the top and the liferafts lashed to them. Also the ends of the flight decks are starting to lift as we have had a spate of unusual humidity.

Looks great. Is the aftermarket flight deck warping forward, or were you just waiting for some other detail.work before laying it down?

Oh it’s popped up in several places, change in temperature here to the mid 30’s. I forgot to gloss coat the flight deck under it first. I’ve already re glued it

Greg, is the warping a common effect?  I have a few kits with wooden stick-on decks and heard of this problem.

 

Is it remedied by pretreating the model with a gloss coat - I.e., does the deck’s adhesive bond better to a gloss coat than plastic?  And in your experience, is it a good idea to use additional glue and not just rely on the adhesive?

A gloss coat works better. No idea why. Glue is problematic as it’s hard to get a good even spread so just put out spot fires where needed using a metal shim and CA

Have you ever used or considered using contact glue like they use on laminate counter tops? When used with counter tops it gives NO leeway in placing but once placed only acetone or destruction will remove it.

Truthfully no, I actually like the ability to move it if I have to, this stuff is paper thin and fragile

Getting the rigging done, the kit comes with an excellent rigging guide (best I’ve ever seen ) and research states her call sign is November kilo yankee tango so teh falga match.

Another fantastic model Greg, congratulations!  I actually went on the Navsource site the other day to look up other Casablanca class escort carriers to see if there were any cool pictures I could represent similar to what you did with the Thetis Bay.  Very creative on your part!
