The masts are complete !

Make all the platforms, painted, rope around it, blocks on it, deadeyes in place, and more of that funny stuff.

Bowsprit also complete and on it.

And of course everything is dry fit as far that it is possible.

Also make the catheads ( forget that totally !! :(  )

Next thing to do a few things that I forget on the hull and stern .

The I will start making the shrouds.

I know, I have to put the hammock braces and netting on it.

I will do that later because I let the netting white.

And I'm afraid that they are dirty when i put them on at this moment.

And I make the hammock netting on the table and will place them in one piece.......

So Piet, you see that I have done a little bit more.

I have to work for a living and not retired yet !

That will take 7 years and 9 months from now...... :(  :(  :(

Nice looking masts Sjors!  Shrouds and - - - drum role please - - - rat lines!!!

Yeah Sjors, 7 years and 9 month, it'll go fast, trust me.  But you'll still be a young man at that time.  I was already 75 when I retired.

Be good, stay healthy and say hi to Anja, we miss her Halve Maan.

Cheers,

Piet, The Flying Dutchman.

That looks just great Sjors. I'm really looking forward to your rigging. BTW, much as I enjoy retirement, there is still a lot to be said for making money. :D  :D

@ Ulises,

You can not say it enough  :D  :D  :D

@ Jan,

Yep, almost rigging time  :D  :D  :D

I hope that my drawings for that are better then those from OcCre !

@ Frank,

Thanks but that shelf is not the final place for her when she is finished.

There is another shelf on the other side of the room and that will be her place.

@ Greg,

Thank you very much !!

@ Crackers

Thank you but can you make it 70 % instead of 100 % ???? ;)

@ Harmut,

Thank you  :D  :D

Nice picture between the leaves of your Aggy !!!!!

You can use that as a screensaver !!

@ Betamale,

Welcome on board !!!

Take your time to read everything.....you will need it !  :D  :D

@ Mark,

Thanks.

She has her teeth but not her sails....there are no sails ......

@ Popeye,

The rigging spiders are all ready running in the workshop.

They can not wait till I start rigging but they have to !

First work....

@ Piet,

Yep, the fun begins !

For the Halve Maan of Anja you can wait for a very long time.....

Unfortunately when we are moving a few months ago, there was a misunderstanding with one of the guy's who help us.

We had a few boxes that has to go to the new home but accidentally the box with the Halve Moon was on the wrong side of the room.....

You can guess what happened........ :(  :(

@ Bob,

Thanks.

We will see how the rigging goes.

I know how to tie ratlines....done a few a while back  ;)

I want to make money but I don't want to work for it  :D  :D  :D

Illegal maybe ????????

Rats... I missed that about the Halve Moon.  I'm sorry to hear it.   I hope Anja will think about another model as she has a talent for these ships.

Sorry to hear about the Half Moon, Sjors, but do I recall correctly that Anja has a scratch build Hannah package waiting in the wings? Could be just the excuse needed to start on it! :D

Ok,

No update , only a answer to the things that has been said about the Half Moon......

She will NOT make a new model again.....

Anja is to busy with work and other things.....

Maybe somewhere in the future but not at this moment .

The Hannah is still in the box and she will stay there for a long time.

When I have the feeling that I'm capabel enough to make her I will do it.

But first a few other projects.......

That brings me to the next question.

I'm almost ready to start the rigging of my Aggy.

What should I do first....

Shrouds or stay's ?

And when I make the shrouds , what's the best way.

Foremast and then to the back or Mizzenmast and working to the front ?????

Let me know what you are thinking.

From what I've observed by following other builds Sjors, is usually they do the shrouds first, and do them "off" the ship until they're all done. Sorry I can't be of much more help than that.

Sjors, I know that everyone has a way that they think best, but for whatever it's worth, my way  is this: I do the mizzen shrouds first, then the mizzen stays, then the main shrouds, the main stays, the fore shrouds and lastly, the fore stays. I have found that moving from the mizzen forward gives better and easier access to the stays than working the other way. On the lower masts, the stays lay over the shrouds at the masthead and should be done after the shrouds.

I'm sure that you will get other opinions.

Sjors - As you know, I'm far from the experienced hand here....but I'd start with the shrouds.  And I took the same approach as Bob...

Easy ;-)

As the stays lay over the shrouds, the shrouds come first ...

... but after the pendants!

Thank you all very much !!!

Bob, I will do it your way and if it is not working...........I'll be on your door step  :P

Dafi....first the pendants....then the shrouds and then the stay's !!!!

Next question......

The first shroud has to be totally ( how do you call it ) seizing ??????????

The rest of the shrouds only to the caterpillars ????

Is this making sense ????????

It looks if I 'm rigging for the first time  :D  :D  :D  :D

Do you mean 'served' rather than seized?  The foremost shroud was served to help prevent chaffing, although I'm not sure if this was also done on the mizzen.

Yes Jason, I'm meaning served......

I have take a look at the book Rigging period ship models by Lennarth  Petersson and from what I can see is that the first shroud is served.

I have the book in front of me now and you are right, not the first shroud on the mizzen......

I can see it on the mainmast and foremast

I know that I have make a few mistakes  on the San Ildefonso, I want to avoid that.

Now I'm also seeing that I start on the right side with the first pair and go to the left.
