Very good! The car usually rides higher when the engine is removed because the suspension is unsprung. Would you consider adding this?

Great model. It brings back a lot of memories for me as I once had a '73 Datsun 240Z. When my carburetors started giving me trouble, I bought a set of Webers to replace them. Back then, spare parts were more difficult to acquire for a foreign car and the Weber carbs were a big improvement over my faulty ones. My brother liked it so well, he bought a 260 ZX the very first year they came out. The domestic, Fairlady version has a few notable cosmetic differences but for all intent and purpose, it's pretty much the same as the 240Z as far as I can see.

In the 80s a friend of mine had one and had it Sprayed with purple which had little flakes of gold in the paint (was all the rage at the time with all sorts of metal flakes, can't remember what it was called) and in defraction tape (if you can remember that you're showing your age) he had the enlarged datsun in a wedge shape on the lower part of the doors it looked awesome.

Very nice dio. I like the idea of the removed engine. Painting and finishing looks spot on. These large 1/12 car kits are absolutely great for some extra detailing and toying around with presentation ideas.

Cheers Rob

Yeah I remember it, think that refracted rainbow sheen of oil floating on water, for those that don't know what it is...

This brings back memories! I saw the original "Fairladys" when I was stationed in Japan in the late '60s and early '70s. But that name was too tame for the American market where it would compete with Camaros, Trans Ams, Chargers and Mustangs, so the marketing morons coined the much more macho "240Z" name for imports into the states. After all, would James Bond be seen driving a "Fairlady?"

KPNUTS,

Very well done.

I don't know if it has been mentioned before but there is currently a full restoration of a 240Z on YT ....

It may be of interest. The builder is doing the work when he finds time, from what I can tell.

It was also called the 240Z in the UK, and caused a bit of a stir when it arrived.

Happy New Year,

Richard
