DocRob Posted April 5 Share #35 Posted April 5 Great work on the Sea King, James. The interior looks absolutely fantastic and I hope you can see a lot through the canopy and doors. Well PE, love it or hate it. I like to work with PE, but like the others have mentioned, only where it truly enhances the plastic parts. It´s a learning curve with complicated PE assembles and good to have the appropriate tools, like bending pliers and tweezers and last but not least a trusty CA glue or solder experiences. I actually had a better experience with PE on the tank I'm building so maybe it's practice and, as Rob said, the right tools. Stripes on now, needs a bit of fettling but I'm happy. I've bought some ground crew resin figures that I'll paint up to finish it off I really think that putting together a 'scene' really shows off the model and just is more interesting to look at. The one I've followed was to prime in black, then highlight with white. This is what I ended up with, although this figure is for a different project Next step was to water down the paint and apply very thinly, glaze it effectively, and then add some highlights by dry brushing and a bit of a darker paint wash to add depth. Old Collingwood Posted April 26 Share #54 Posted April 26 Good work with figures, my to go with routine is - Black primer (as it works good for shadow line detail) faces and hands with any details picked out (depends on the scale of the figure) then a wash with high lights picked out and a wee bit of slightly more pink for cheeks etc, then blocking in the main colours then fine details like belts and small details, then when fully dry after a day or Two a wash over the main body then fine details picked out - like over belts etc. Its all an illusion of shadows and high lights.
