Good evening everyone

all holes drilled for the steps

any mould lines that i can see have been sanded out

Hull sanded down several times with 1500 wet and dry

tonight i was playing around with the grill for the seawater inlets and outlets, the grill is over scale - but will support possibly some sort of netting over the top

Good evening everyone

the funnel area progress, finding i am spending more time worrying about the weathering than the build it's self so have told my self no more painting until i am much further ahead, i am constantly checking build logs to avoid doing to much that i may rip out , the fitting kit that i dont have at present, replaces so much of the original (or should i say enhances a lot of the original)

there are 3 hangers on the build one of them is a double am hoping to be able to do some work so you can possibly see some of the internals

VERY NICE WORK!   :)

Cheers,

Tim

Hi Kevin,

I assumed the sea water ports would be a Photo Etch supplied part?

I wonder of flyscreen mesh which is glass fibre net would prove suitable, very thin strands and holes small enough to keep the mozzies out.  anyway just a thought.

Cheers

i was aware that the Grill were not included - but the suggestions quoted in another site that i follow - they have stopped selling it

, i have some netting (tule) that i am unable to use for the Victory build, and will most likely use this over the mesh already in place, might give it some sort of depth/ - even though the people that will see it when it is collecting dust on the shelf will say " why did you drill holes in the side - wont that make it sink"

And so it goes on - a decent airbrush now ordered, i dont suppose it would ever be used on a wooden build, for those in the know Harder-Steenbeck-Evolution-2-in-1-200-wi

Hey Kevin.

I got one of those about 4 months ago for mini painting - loving it.  I have no experience with any other decent airbrush, so can't compare.

I am planning to use it on the wooden ship - I don't mind masking stuff, and getting a smooth layer of paint with no brushstrokes seems worth the effort (though I wouldn't spend that money to buy an airbrush just for wooden ships.

Ahoy Kevin :D

There are a ton of "how to" air brush videos on YouTube. How I learned

Here are some  tips I learned the hard way.

Always tackle the hardest sections first. Common newbie mistake is to spray the larger area then try to hit the tough spots.

Future floor polish is great stuff. Use it to seal tape and prevent bleed or add a gloss coat for decals or washes. I do not like it for a final coat and I thin it. Dries in less then ten minutes.

Use acrylic thinner for airbrushing acrylics, "not" water.

Make sure you have something to cover your work when your done. Nothing worst then a perfect paint job ruined by some airborne particle

Weather affects airbrushing so your mix today might not spray the same tomorrow. Always test and adjust if necessary.

Develop a routine to clean your airbrush. Time spent on this comes back in spades

Airbrushing is a lot of fun but can be a love hate relationship

Happy new year everyone

the seawater inlets and outlets are grilled, the photos dont look that good due to over spay from painting inside the hull black, then to complete the illusion of depth, i put some tanks on inside, at least you cannot see daylight from the other side now

the kit does not contain a stand so i have made one

i used 2 curtain pole end caps

two bolts with nuts

two part expoxy

this is temp as i dont know how she will be displayed at the end of the build

the nuts are fixed inside of the hull and screwed from the outside

lol -  the stand may be the wrong way around

Main deck is now attached to the hull - so in reality, in two months i have built 7 pieces, but a lot of the superstructure is built up, and i detail it as i go along

Next i have to add all the port hole PE and steeps, then prime the hull and main deck, i know the decking goes over it but a lot shows through, so will save doing it later

this one is just temp - but i will keep the same concept for the final one- possibly board big enough to allow a glass cover to fit over it, must admit this has made the build very movable and given it some weight

Hey Kevin I'm watching your build with great interest. I just started my build as well on here. I just guesstimate on the waterline. I'm not going crazy with all the work some others are doing. It's enough for me just to get something I'm proud of and not spend a year building it lol

are you doing a build log, - i have several now, on different sites, but for the knowledge,, freindship and broad range of interests and no subscription  i like MSW  by far, it is the best of all,

In return i might even finish one of my builds off and move it from a build to a completed

Hi Kevin

Looking good and a nice tidy work area compared to mine,I have been putting it off since Christmas :D I had a look at the movie, that is one spectacular model.I have 14 motors in my DSV up to now and I thought that was a lot :D He must be controlling the model through a laptop because my Futaba F14 is nearly fully expanded and it wouldn't come close to controlling half that

Kind Regards Nigel
