  1. Thanks everyone, this is a nice informative thread. I have been interested in eventually trying this out. As I have never used one before I am looking forward to trying it out
  2. Mighty big guns there. (I think the 0 is the swirl at the bottom of the P) Love Cheerful need to get someone to build the Surly 😄
  3. I really like this framing. It really makes you think many steps ahead. Small errors can really add up and your build looks like you avoided them. I like those sanding foam blocks
  4. Welcome! As Louie has said there are a multitude of great beginner projects out there. A build log is a great way to keep up the momentum/enthusiasm and to ask questions and show off your work
  5. Welcome! Those are some really nice models there. Will be looking forward to any future builds of yours
  6. Vanguard Models (a sponsor here) has a figure of Lord Cochrane and Lord Nelson at 1:64
  7. while magnificent models have been built using just a pocket knife, sandpaper and some elmers glue, beautiful and well made tools are a joy unto themselves
  8. Welcome! I would love to see another Liberty ship build
  9. I was really looking forward to the 2020 conference and after seeing those picture for the museum am looking forward even more to 2021
  10. this is the only answer 🤪
  11. Outstanding! Your tooling is a work of art in itself
  12. The shape of the long brass ones look good but I would see if there would be a way to practice more to make your own. Maybe a justification for some new tools 🙄 fancy new lathe maybe...
  13. Glenn that is a fantastic result. I do really appreciate the detailed description of your process.
  14. They are one of our great sponsors and @MrBlueJacket is a member who visits frequently. Excellent company
  15. I’ve always like the look of this boat and I do like seeing a picture of the box art at the beginning of build logs so you can see what you are aiming for. Will be following along.
  16. I think the Red Baron is a great start. If you get the time a build log would be a fine start for showing you work and asking questions etc
  17. That framing looks really nice. I am sorry if you said before but what are you using to cut all those mortise out with? Are you getting those incredibly tight joints with a chisel/file/blade or are you one of the power people with a fancy mill?
