I really like this framing. It really makes you think many steps ahead. Small errors can really add up and your build looks like you avoided them. I like those sanding foam blocks

Welcome! As Louie has said there are a multitude of great beginner projects out there. A build log is a great way to keep up the momentum/enthusiasm and to ask questions and show off your work

Welcome! Those are some really nice models there. Will be looking forward to any future builds of yours

while magnificent models have been built using just a pocket knife, sandpaper and some elmers glue, beautiful and well made tools are a joy unto themselves

The shape of the long brass ones look good but I would see if there would be a way to practice more to make your own. Maybe a justification for some new tools 🙄 fancy new lathe maybe...

I’ve always like the look of this boat and I do like seeing a picture of the box art at the beginning of build logs so you can see what you are aiming for. Will be following along.

I think the Red Baron is a great start. If you get the time a build log would be a fine start for showing you work and asking questions etc

That framing looks really nice. I am sorry if you said before but what are you using to cut all those mortise out with? Are you getting those incredibly tight joints with a chisel/file/blade or are you one of the power people with a fancy mill?

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
