  1. Jesse, you should do a CSS Albemarle or Neuse. There seems to be a dearth of Southern vessels. Need a blockade runner, maybe.
  2. Frank, that is an excellent frame construction tutorial. Thanks for sharing.
  3. Water slide decals work best when applied to glossy, sealed surfaces. I suppose you could cut them out and glue the paper sides together, without wetting the decals. But you won't be happy, over time. The paper will absorb moisture out of the air and the decals will fall apart. Best to do as Les (bluenose2) suggests and replace them with the cloth ones.
  4. Max, take care of yourself. I enjoy your songs picks and look forward to seeing your new picks. Your description of this kit sounds interesting. I await some pictures.
  5. Bob, I'd like to follow along, too. I look forward to your educational departures from the basic kit. Play on!
  6. She's a beauty, Bob. Thanks for sharing your build. I look forward to following your next build, too.
  7. Max, I'd like to be an early bird and follow along. Looks like this is a very heavily decorated ship. Best of luck with it.
  8. Tim, next resin kit wash the parts in warm water and Dawn dishwashing liquid. It will remove the release agent still on the resin. I've used it and it works. And it's not a harsh chemical. Another resin cleaner I've read about on some web sites is Bleech-White, a tire whitewall cleaner. Haven't tried it yet; probably stronger than Dawn.
  9. Lee Valley shipped my US order from Syracuse, NY to me in the WNC boonies in about 4 days.
  10. In the words of many of us from our "yout" - Far out! Your workmanship is stunning. Theme song for this could be Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Proud Mary", done by any number of artists.
  11. Dave, beautiful work on the transom. Fantastic. I like you plan, but don't ever get caught. You have to outlive the Admiral for it to play out. Otherwise, methinks it would end badly, with you walking the plank in shark infested waters.
  12. Gorgeous work. Really nice colors along the gunwales. And I can see why the French called the cushion color what they did. Spot on match for what I saw every day on my horse farm.
  13. Hang in there, brother. The average Joe won't know you re-did the rudder, but deep in your soul, you'll know, even five years from now.
  14. Frank, as another Yank with Irish grandparents, I'd like to follow along. Those folks were from County Cork.
  15. Druxey, your millwork looks as good as the beautiful work done by Norm Abram, of This Old House and New Yankee Workshop, in 1 to 1 scale.
  16. Jack, signing in for more fun. I'll join Mark in the back row and sit on a pile of rope lying back there. Yikes, those plans are most definitely cluttered. What a mess.
  17. Jesse, your carronades turned out great. Cap'n Steve's template will help keep those consistent.
