Hi Michael. Not are you a Exelent model ship builder BUT you are also a Exelent engineer. Amazing work you got going there. Have been following this build for some time and the shear amount of detail to the little bits is what makes this one of the best. Truly outstanding. Regards Antony. BTW. Happy birthday.

Old ships transporting horses and wagons???
AntonyUK replied to NAZGÛL's topic in Nautical/Naval History
Hi. I have read a article that discribed the loading and unloading of horses. The horses were lead out to the ships by small rowing boats ( The horse was swimming) A sling/ harness was passed around the horse and it was halled aboard as the photos that Chuck posted. Unloading was the reverse. I guess that cargo ships would have been used to this purpose as there hatches were much larger. And they would have used a hoisting beam for this task. Regards Antony. -
Hi Joshua. When I have a LOT of bevels to do I make a jig out of some scrap softwood. The scrap timber should be flat and wide. Using a bench saw cut a slot in the scrap timber at the angle you want. Then the timber you are sanding fits into the slot at the correct angle. Now I pass it through my drum sander. The result is perfect bevels on my timbers. Regards Antony.

Hi John. First kit. Nice going. The planking is not easy for beginners and is time consuming. Keep up the good work. Will be following you with this build. Regards Antony.

Hi Bryan. It's a great way to learn.. By our mistakes that is.. Trial and error learning is the best way. Your ship is looking very good. I always think that we build to our own standards and that just fine. It's your ship Regards Antony.

Hello Lee. This is most excellent work. And your ship is looking very good. Is it possible to have a close up of the planking overlap. I am very interested in this method of planking. Many thanks Antony. -
Hi. I have to agree with John above. I have bought per cut strips .. But not always good quality. Since buying my hobby saw I can cut what I want and not what's for sale. As John pointed out the saw is not just for cutting strips. Almost anything wood on the model can be cut with a little thought on the method. Regards Antony.

Hi Ben. In modeling this the interior bulkheads and panels will be much thicker than the scale size. Will dolls and fingers be able to get into the small areas without dananaging the construction ?? Adding the clothing thickness and the dolls not true to scale ..Will they fit ? I ask the questions as I have designed a few dolls houses based on real houses that the child is living in. And a child and the scale bannisters lasted about 1 hour. With damage over the next few weeks almost made me cry.. I put it down to fine scale modeling not being sutable for children or adults to interact with. Please don't take the above thoughts as critisum. Just my expearance. I will be following this build as I like your idea's. Regards Antony.

Hi Lee. As always you continue to produce outstanding work which amazes me. This will be a splendid model and I wonder on how someone can put so much detail into such a beautiful ship. Just outstanding. Regards Antony.
