  1. Ok, thanks for the clarification, that is the same method I use for threading, good stiff 1/2" with a point---much easier for me...
  2. Yes, hopefully won't be too long till I join the club....it's getting to be a rather good sized group.
  3. Looks really nice Andy. I thought about building this one after finishing the Revell, but decided to do the Morgan instead. I might still do this one in the future. I really like the concept of cross sectional models...shows the intricacy of the real thing.
  4. Hey brotha from down unda, looks like you really are getting close to the finish line. Pictures look great. Question, how would you use those threaders for the eyebolts with lines in place? seems to be too crowded. Keep up the good work Mate.
  5. Ingenious idea Dave, it does look like crown molding, and perfectly does what you intended. Really nice.
  6. Very nice Sjors, neat and clean. Thanks for the pictures...that'll make you know who happy.....oh, now that I think about you know who is happy....he took the pictures......
  7. Patrick she's coming along nicely, gives me inspiration to keep working on my Morgan so I can start the Niagra. Really nice, congrats on a fine model....just a little bit to go.
  8. Very nice Danny, we learn more every time we see your log, especially the use of jigs. Thanks for the updates
  9. Well my friend, rest assured I'll drink one for ya! Our prayers are with you in your medical situation. Hope all is well. Take care and know we'll be praying for whatever your proceedure is. Keep us all posted....inquiring minds want to know. The shipyard will be there....looking forward to mines and torpedoes.
  10. Congrats Jay, way to go...I am so envious. I'll be glad when I might be able to afford one again....enjoy.
  11. Here, here Piet!! I just finished one myself, of course, you realize my addiction is your fault!!! Cheers & Proost!!
  12. Hi Pat welcome back also. I hope to get a few things done soon. I'll be starting to make chainplates and deadeyes, now that I've figured out how to blacken brass. It was quite a delimma for a while and I had to wait for "chemicals" for the voodoo mix, but I think I'm ready to be a blackening fool now. I'm almost out of solder for my resistance solder iron. I'm not sure if I have to use a special type or if regular non-flux solder will work. I'm going to try it first so here's hoping. I had some problem with Model Shipways as far as a couple of parts go, but since the owner took over again maybe he can help me on that issue. I'll be trying to figure that out in a few days. Almost ready to start rigging. I have parts of all 3 masts almost finished and ready to start stepping. Maybe I can do some work over the weekend, sure hope so.
  13. Hi Dave, hope all is well with you. I see you've been back in the shipyard, looks outstanding as usual. Good therapy. I look forwrd to your progress. Aren't you glad you've seen those capstans in the real?
  14. Hi Mark, glad to see you getting started again. Good luck and keep it up. I like choice of colors and woods.
  15. Looks nice Patrick. I hope to use the same thing for my Morgan. Glad to see you back.
  16. Hi Jay, I had a Sherline mill and lathe. Both were wonderful. Lost in a divorce. Can't afford another one at the time. My Conny is finished, except the final mount, which I have but haven't finished yet. I'm currently starting to rig the C.W. Morgan. The Conny started when I was 19, finished last April...I'm 64 now...long project. Good luck with the mill. One good thing about Sherline is they have all the "toys" to go with them.
  17. Looking very nice Jay. I learn something everytime I see your log. Thanks for all the instructions you give us. I've also had Henry's tour. What an opportunity. My Conny is Revell's and I finished it prior to the Morgan.
  18. Looks good Henry. Glad I'm not in Boston. In the 80's here today. Sat outside on the veranda, had a cold one and a good Cigar. Hope you're surviving the winter.
