Peter, thank you so much for your explaining comments relating to the jib and its rigging. Unfortunately I am not Holding the volume IV of David Antscherl`s Rigging the Swan Class, which probably may have given the one or other answer as well, but with your Kind comments I see I`m not laying wrong there. The Position and size of all of the stay sails and spanker is also a bit of tummy Feeling, but I trust I`m not too wrong with it. I wish Amati would have provided an extra sheet for all sail rigging. The reason for doing (preparing for) spanker and staysail rigging as next sequence is for better Access to rigging- and belaying Points before the Yards and squaresails are rigged on. Nils

Take the time it takes Omega, a good rigging is is the "dress Outfit" of your model for ever after and gives you satisfaction and a smile when looking at it Nils

Hello Bill, thanks for visiting my Bohuslän Build log, you`re very welcome, I`m glad you like it. The reference for the riveting is taken from my pre WWII steamship "Heinrich Kayser" build log, in the Posts # 12 and # 16, for the same technique in applying the rivet Feature. Hi B.E. your apreciations / comments are always very welcome, many thanks, trust I will have to produce a set of stay sails now, to get those installed and rigged, due to the necessary given spaces as Long as the Yards are not hindering Access and for before its the turn for the Yards, suare sails and fürther rigging Nils

Thank you Bob, the staysails and their rigging arrangement and related belaying points are not referred to in the Amati plans, neigther the jibstay and the traveller, so I am taking advice from Lennarth Petersson`s book "Rigging Period Ship Models", which is a great help. Nils

Staus update..... set up a jibsail stay together with jib spriboom traveler with integrated roller for jib downhaul, and sheave roller in the spritboom tip for inhaul / outhaul of the jibsail drawn up a preliminary staysail ans spanker Arrangement into the Amati plan by means of editing the JPG pic with IFRAN view paint tool editor Made the raw gaff- and Driver boom a nd the bead lock chain for the mast attachment Nils

Thank you Martin, I had delightfuly received a spare PE Panel from Amati customer Service once because of broken and lost parts for the PE Quarter badge decors. So These Little birds were obsolete until now...., and the black spaces had to have something on it... Nils

Thats so right Bob, when I was still active in mechanical Engineering and discussing some actual Detail with fellow engineers I swiftly made a handscetch and layed this on the table.... When I asked the younger "CAD fellows" collegues how they would quickly present their thoughts for others to understand, they did`nt realy seem to know what I was talking about... (smile) Nils

Build log part 65 a Little update to Keep the gear moving on... Topmast shrouds (without ratlines) set, as well as top topmast foreward stays. I`ll leave away the top backstays untill later because they would only hinder the Access to the deck in the Moment. I`m thinking of making and rigging the stay sails, now would be the time to have relatively good Access to the belaying points Nils

Hello Peter, your rigging Looks very well, and I again took a dive into your log...... I have two questions, a) noticed that you install a jib stay attached to a traveller (neighther shown nor mentioned in Amati drawing). Is the seperate jib stay always used in combination with the jib sail, instead of attaching the jib to the fore topgallant stay ? I can imagine that Setting the jib (Access to...) is easier when it is hauled out on the jib boom per outhauler lineand over sheave roll in sprit-boom tip. Also the common sail lateral Point can be set a Little Foreward or aft to trim the ship on course by opperating the traveller as the seperate jib stay (when the traveller is hauled out) would require some additional length compared to inhauled Position, you probably have arranged for a sheave roll in the upper foremast, for allowing the appropriate jib stay tension as well as an block supported tackle down on deck ?
