  1. Couldn't agree with you more on Chuck's influence and the quality of his plans/instructions. And for the record, it took a little getting used to but I like the bamboo. Now as to that blue........ I applaud your 'subtle solution'.
  2. That's a lot of progress. You won't be sorry you made that keel clamp !
  3. Looks like first rate quality and workmanship to me.
  4. Very nice symmetry as seen from the stern view. Going to look great after sanding/finishing. Will the hull be a natural finish ?
  5. Hallelujah ! I was miffed when they deleted Pluto. I was born under 9 planets and I'm not going down with less. Keep us posted. This is a nice piece of work.
  6. I'm holding my breath to see if Pluto is to be included.
  7. Nicely done. The railings do complement the windows. And look ... her colors match the Seasons!
  8. Darn it Vic. I may like your version more than mine !!!!! One thing is for sure....... she's a beast. We're gonna need bigger cameras
  9. Thanks to all for looking in. I really do not deserve all these wonderful comments ....... if she looks good it's because she was designed that way. I just do my best to follow Chuck's plans and practicum. And the encouragement I get from you folks keeps me focused and striving to improve.
  10. The planking on the foredeck has been completed with the addition of the treenails (drill and fill method) and the finish applied. The belfrey and it's railing have also been completed. I left this mostly in natural finish to complement the similar railing on the quarterdeck. Here are a couple of views: Now it's easy to see the alternating open decking areas fore/aft. Next shall be the fabrication/installation of some head timbers and the catheads. The cats are quite large and require some 'surgery' to install so I'll be moving slowly ---- only get one shot at this. Cutting slots in the finished hull is not my forte.
  11. Be interested to see how the silk span works. Haven't had any since the 50's for airplane covering.
  12. I've had this MM one for about 10 years. It's smooth and accurate ..... but I don't push it beyond about 5/32". It will handle drills down to about #74. http://www.micromark.com/html_pages/instructions/81631i/81631-drill-press-inst.pdf
  13. Hello Robb. Thanks for the nice words. Jeff was the owner of Hobby Mill. He retired last year and closed up shop. My understanding is that Crown Timberyard (an MSW sponsor .. see home page for advertisement) has become a very capable replacement source. I haven't personally tried them yet but wouldn't hesitate for a second.
