  1. Nice work, David! I especially like that curved staircase you've made. That wouldn't have been easy! Cheers Patrick
  2. Hi Phil Nils is a true master, but pls don't forget, that we all started at the same point, with limited knowledge and skills, initially. Pls don't be demoralised. Just give it a go and you'd be amazed at what you can do! Cheers Patrick
  3. Hi David This restoration project looks like it'll be great fun and challenging, both at the same time. I'm sure there'll be no shortage of people to pipe up and help you. Pls count me in! Cheers Patrick
  4. Nice work, Bob! Now that the holidays are over, it's full steam ahead, as you said. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to what you've got in store next. All the best! Patrick
  5. Hi Kees Good to hear! Those types of fumes are nasty and well worth avoiding if at all possible. I'm looking forward to seeing what's coming up next from your work bench. All the best! Patrick
  6. Hi Mark Nice work on the hull. She's really coming together beautifully. The nod to Bill Gale on his birthday is also a fitting tribute as the boat's designer. Well done. Cheers Patrick
  7. Hi Kees Thanks. Your comment about the fumes from the polyester reminds me that safety is paramount when using these materials. Hopefully, you're doing it in a well ventilated area? Cheers Patrick
  8. Hi Dan Congratulations Dan, she's a beauty and a true testament to your talents. Undoubtedly, the client would be equally pleased and impressed. The inclusion of the clock and the story of what would transpire in "5 minutes" is a sad, but touching tribute to the lives lost in the tragedy; all of which, makes your model even more special. Well done! Patrick
  9. Hi Kees I'm profoundly in awe, because you make things look so easy! I gotta lot to learn....! Cheers Patrick
  10. Hi Eibwen Nenad and Bob beat me to the best seats! No worries...I can peer over their shoulders! Looks like an interesting project. Cheers Patrick
  11. Hi Deon and Pete Yeah!!! I reckon a really tiny scale Hereshoff Buzzards Bay would be magical. There's something really captivating (well, to my mind, anyway), in holding a finely crafted labour of love in the palm of your hand. Deon, if you were keen to give one a go, I'd be the first to join your Build Log. Pete - not sure about the "master" tag, but, hey, I won't complain (LOL)!!! Cheers Patrick
  12. Hi Nenad I reckon that you've got the proportions of the stand "just right" in order to show her off to the maximum. Not too high and not too long. Also, like others have said, the idea of including a box is really nifty, as well. Nicely done! Cheers Patrick
  13. Hi Denis Chase and Tripp are going to be the proudest grandkids on the planet when they see what you've done! What better way to introduce the younger generation to our wonderful hobby. Be warned however, because I predict more models will be suddenly appearing for you to work your magic upon. Sorta like the 'ultimate compliment' and a testament to Grandad's skills. Nice job! Cheers Patrick
  14. Hi Nigel Congratulations! She's looking really spiffy and you must be pretty pleased with yourself. In fact, it seems that what you've achieved is more of a work of art, than a mere model, and that's an achievement in its own right. Nicely done. Cheers Patrick
  15. Hi Pete Your boatyard must be the pinnacle of efficiency because you're churning these hulls out at a super rate of speed. Nicely done and pls count me in! Cheers Patrick
  16. Hi Ben Thanks for the encouraging words about my disorganisation! I don't really know how it's come about. I think it's because Majellan is a multi-decked ship; so much so that I've had to build all the decks all at once in order to ensure they can be pulled apart easily and also that the staircases are lined up. If it wasn't for those considerations, I would've been starting with the internal work on the lower deck first before I'd even get started on the upper decks; but, hey, there's no harm doing it this way. You know what? I reckon you've got one of the best jobs around! Being asked to design a hull capable of carry a M1 battle tank...well, that's school boy fantasy stuff!!! I envy you (even if this exact example may not have been your project). Not just because of the challenge of making it happen, but it's also like 'wow', imagine the fun designing, thinking, wondering, etc. great stuff! Naval architecture is one really cool career. Cheers and all the best Patrick
