Beautiful work Ondras! -
Thank you Ab, I would be very interested in developing project of a Dutch ship from this period. One question and perhaps it’s my own mistake, as I looked through your PDF on my phone, but I didn’t happen to catch the names of any of the vessels you have modeled, am I missing something? Thank you, JJ

I’m curious now if this has anything to do her time spent on the bottom for so many years or if this is as built. I will need to dig into my library again and do some reading.

Rusty, you could also wipe them with alcohol which will reveal the color of the wood with WOP applied, the alcohol will evaporate quickly and not harm the wood. Nevertheless, your choice of wood and the finished colors of your deck look great!

Mike, your Agamemnon look just fantastic! Well done! I’ll have to go over and throughly go through your log As far as the false keel on your Winnie, if I remember right I only had one piece as well. I’m pretty sure I just Milled them according to the drawings.I think I even just ran the waste trees from the parts through my saw for the wood, it already had the char on it so it worked out well. Looks like you’re off to a good start. JJ

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
