This isn't some easy kit to copy that has 6 bulkheads and a hand full of pre cut parts + White metal castings. I bet they would try though...
thats why ZHL are crap kits

day 64 midships upper deck beams
not much to show for an update, although, i have managed to do something each day since the last update
the upper forepeak has been built up, and awaits fixing into position, this will remain black, along with the bilges and stern post
lining up quite well
no i dont like the black either
still continuing to port the port frames in, they seam to be sitting quite well
now started the upper deck of the midships section,

That is a massive build Kevin. You and I like large models.... 🙂
How stiff is it? Will you have to present it on wood blocks on a flat board?
Yves
like a real vessel it is vulnerable in early stages of build, but as each bit goes on it is becoming more an more rigid
as for the larger builds, yes i seam to enjoy them, i recently purchased the 1/200 trumpeter Titanic with KA MK1 PE kit (at a good price), and dont think i will build her as 1/96 and seams to be my top end of scale, given a choice i would swop it tomorrow for 1/96 linkspan ferry Norstar

day 58 port side frames going in Midships section
bit of a disaster yesterday so quite a few hours wasted, making up the frames for the tween deck and spent ages lining them up, went to fit then on the build when i realised it did not look right at all, i had successfully put them all on the upper deck position, not the tween deck, what a numpty, some were damaged beyond repair, but i had a few spare from a previous build
also made up a set of tween deck pontoon hatch covers, to ensure my corners were square (spot on)

I'm using the Perry supplied figures I have - just need to alter some of the arm positions - will get there in the end (I hope) lol

keep up the great work

a mass of dead people, might be easier said than done, unless you were to use a modelling clay with bits of the soldiers added

yes it does look delicate, well today i started to resolve that issue

day 56 front end on, and back off again, stbd side frames going in instead
But first of all i made an attempt to join the front end on, after 24 hours of daring not to sneeze i decided, its far to early as there is nothing solid yet to secure it to, other than the keel plates, however with a bit of string along the centre line, it is spot on
right lets get the port side sorted, 157 frames to varnished on both sides, the reverse to be painted grey, cut and folded
frames going in, my next project for a few days
front end is getting in the way, rather than damage anything it has been taken back off

I must say she looks very delicate at this stage, mate!

it is actually very firm now, where the transverse beams are attached to the box girders onto the bulkheads, what is surprising is how flimsy the stern frames are that have been put in, no doubt when the other side are in it will make them look better

Good evening
thank you for comments and likes
been a few days since my last update, been busy with family, but still managed to do a bit every day
day 54
engine room flat and tween deck level now have decks on
front end repainted to the colors i am using
hand painting the bilges in black, looks awful, and needs doing again
hand painting the box girders and looks worse than the black in the bilges
first of the hidden lighting
tween deck 1/2 bulkhead on 54 frame, this will then keep the upper deck frames at the correct level
engine room flats port side going in before i forget them

Fantastic job on the coach. I am impressed with the intensity of the yellow. I have found that every brand of yellow paint I have used, including house paint, will not cover without a nearly infinite number of coats! What is you trick for getting that great yellow?
it was a rattle can from a car colour range, on white primer

day 49 continuation of tween decks
one or two transverse beams missing, may find them outside if the boi has taken them
i am finding this build to large to get any decent photos, i may have to drag a wide angle lens out
tomorrow i think i will start to frame the stbd side,
this is possibly the most enjoyable build i have ever done

at last the tween deck is sitting in its correct position, this now shows the height to the top deck

day 48 tween deck transverse beams
a lot of progress made in the last few days
i decided to make a lot the internal decks and deckheads in modules i have found, for me it works very well, and allows me to get all the longitudinals quite straight, also allows painting a lot easier
lots of transverse beams ready for fitting these are for the stbd side midships
engine room lower level
ready for paint
tween decks level nearly complete, looks sqiffy due to the fact the decks are just placed on, and not slotted into position

i will continue going down the port side with the occasional bit on the stbd side to keep it from getting out of shape, but any input from anyone about anything you see wrong or suggestions i will be grateful, this is my one chance to make this something a bit different

day 43 tween deck box girders frames 54 to 99, upper deck transverse beams port side 17 to 54 painted cargo hold deck and bilge tanks
Kevin’s shipyard paint schedule - machinery spaces green decks
customer requirement – green decks in all cargo holds forward of the engine room and machinery spaces (this is just as well as I painted them wrong)
the transverse beams are attached to the longitudinals but not the box girders

good evening everyone
Day 65 upper deck box girders and port side transverse beams
quite pleased with progress made today, even though the box girders had to be remade, as i mixed port and stbd in error,
take 1 box girders
Take 2 with some of todays made up transverse beams , noting glued and not very well presented for you
