Dear Johann

It is logs like this one that really gets me inspired to start practicing this hobby! I don't think I can say any positive words that has not been said, but I will repeat: That is terrific and high(est) class mini craftsmanship. A joy to behold! :D

Grüß, Jakob!

Hi Karl,

I know your models exactly and follow these in your reports.
So I know, that you are a great modeller.
In this regard, I am honored by your praise.
But I'm still far away from your model art.

What a delight to study your build-log Johann !

The accureness you bing into details, (amoungst many others....klincs on capstan for instance...)the composition of brass and Wood everywhere and the feeling for 18th century shipbuilding,... outstanding !!

Hello Johann

I don't often go to the scratch logs here because they intimidate me and make me feel that my craft is so poor compared to those that post here. However I have looked at your log often and while I cannot ever reach the heights of your craftsmanship, I realise that I should applaud it and aspire to it. Your work is extraordinary and I look at your log for the pure pleasure of admiring your art. I'll plug away at my kit knowing that much higher art is available to be seen right here.

Thank you for sharing,

Alistair

Cheers

Alistair

Hello,
I wish you all a happy new year.

And here it goes further with the current preparation of the strap hinges.

First, the bands (1.6 / 0.4 mm) were cut from sheet brass. Then the bushings were cut from a brass round tube.

Hi Johann and Happy New Year :dancetl6:  :dancetl6:  :dancetl6:  :dancetl6: .

Thank you for the new photo's.  I really wish more would show how they make their fitting's as you do. Am  not the best in the world at doing that but will try harder in the future. By showing other's your work it is like the teacher showing the students how to read or do math, which I always need help on. ^_^ Thank you very very much. Even the small bits are a real joy to see how you make them. Look fwd to seeing more in the future sir. Just a question sir but what type of drill bit's do you use and were do you get them? They look like bit's made for brass.
