Again thanks, thanks and thank you :D

Very nice work Sjors, she looks beautiful now.

Will enjoy the riging when you start it.

Børge

Hi Børge,

You enjoy the rigging when I started?

I thought you give me a hand…...

Every thing alright with you?

You have outdone yourself once again, my friend! Beautiful and well worth waiting for.

Soldier on!

One question --- does she have a lot of yards? The reason I ask is that I thought ratlines were tedious. Well, I've come to find out that after those are done, rigging the yards is worse. My main lower yard has 10 eyebolts and 30 blocks (not to mention lashings and footropes). Just something for you to look forward to once the cat finishes hanging the rats :D:D

I'm gonna take a look to see how many yards I have….

I have 7 of those…..

We will see where it ends!

I have not count how many eyebolts and blocks are on it.

I let you know…..

Sjors, WOW!!! She looks great...all that hard work and patience is really paying off!!!!

Thanks Robbyn,

Also a WOW factor.

You make me happy :D

I'm glad that that is done.

Now to the other tiny stuff…..

Hi Sjors,

She's looking very nice my friend.

Mobbsie, thanks!

@ Mark, I just call you from now on……Moderator builder :D  :D  :D  :D or builder Moderator, what ever you like!

@ Bummer Eric,

No worries, I don't call you honey!……….honey  :D

@ Andy, I think it's gonna be the cat…..

@ Jim,

I'm proud ( at the moment)

I try a few blocks to place on to the masts but that is not easy at all!

Those drawings from Corel are a pain in the…….

They give me the clue….glue 2 blocks on an rope into a hole of 1 mm…but the rope is 1 mm  :(

I have a few eyebolts left over and I glued them into the hole  :)

Now I have to see how I fit the blocks on it.

The fairytale goes further later next week.

They'd have to have lids so they don't get wet.  That or have plenty of cotton shooting muskets for after they dry out and shrink.

Not yet Patrick!

First all the blocks and the mast in place and then the shrouds and then the running rigging and THEN…………I need a shrink!  :D

You just put those ratlines off until you are ready......all your fans will wait :)

:D

Do I have fans David?

Hi Sjors,

I know there are many options for sequence of rigging, but having just completed ratlines, I would recommend doing them once the mast and shrouds are in place. If you leave them any longer, such as after the remainder of the Standing Rigging (or later), you will find that other bits will get in the way. Just my 2 cents worth.

Ok Grant,

Then first the masts, shrouds, ratlines and then the rest…...

Then a question for you all.

I know I have read it somewhere but maybe someone can tell me it again.

I have make a mistake on the mizzen mast ( Last one close to the stern..)

I want to take it a part but it is glued yet.

How can I remove the glue…...

Don't say use a saw!

It is wood glue…..

Strange that nobody was seeing it!

I thought it was with Aceton?

Sjors, to dissolve wood glue you can try it with steam of an electric kettle (waterkoker), less aggresive than aceton.

John

Wood glue should soften with alcohol Sjors.  Takes some time.

I've had some startlingly fast results using acrylic paint thinner, basically a mix of ammonia and glycol esters. If you have Windex brand window cleaner, or some other ammonia based window cleaner, that should work just as well.

Oh, you must be talking about the fact that the mizzen is 30 feet shorter then the other 2 masts.  Yeah, I saw that ---- figured you had a reason for doing it that way.

Sjors,

Are you talking about separating two parts of the mast, or removing it from the ship? If the former, then wood glue (PVA) can be de-bonded with isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol). If you used CA glue, then Acetone (nail polish remover) is what you will need to de-bond. If the mast is glued into the ship, then that's a whole other problem..... I don't glue my masts in place; they are held in place by the rigging.

Hope this helps.

Now hurry away and get Anja's dinner - she's got important Moderator stuff to do! :)

Grant uses the 'floating mast' approach with the rigging holding up the mast.  I cheat a little and tack glue my masts in using only very small amount of thin CA which can easily be broken away if necessary.
