Hey,  im still growing up  - at heart  25,   in body feel about 80  actual age  not telling   lol.

Same here, but body is way beyond factory warranty.  Some days I feel as frisky as a pup and then in a matter of hours, I'm the oldest guy in the world.

all gone to the dust monster many years ago, infact in 2006 when mum cleaned the loft out there was a large Airfix spitfire, which had just totally fallen apart, i could have just boxed it up and rebuilt it again

Makes you wonder if newer models with newer glues/paints etc  will last longer.

Good day all,   more work on mossie,  -  I  assembled the other wing  starting by fitting the flaps together, at  the same time I painted and placed the wing radiator in place,  then after cleaning the seams up - the wing was  joined together with the flaps trapped inside.

I also cleaned up and painted both engine nacelles.

HI all,

 

I had a battle on today  - trying to manipulate the engine/undercarriage nacelle to fit the wing (its a notorious  bad fit)   I had to dry fit - dry fit  - dry fit  etc etc etc  and  file/sand away  till I managed to get it to fit requiring just the smallest amount of filling.

Firstly I glued the front end  and aided by the hairdryer  and some gentle pressure it  glued down, then I pushed down the back end and secured with a seam of fine glue.

The idea with the hairdryer  is to make the glue mimick  a heat gun  by where the glue sets quicker by being hot, and cools quickly as set.

Thank you craig,   I understand the Revell Mossie kit is renowned for being a bit of a pig to fit in some areas  namely the  Engine/undercarriage nacelles, and  at the same time  the joins with a little care are bang on.

That's because you are a modeler, OC. Assemblers don't want to take the time to make things fit, modelers do.

Masked up ready for primer,  also a little scribing of panel lines  I also drilled to make a couple of  additional vents below the exhaust manifolds  (that reminds me they need masking).

Question  -  any ideas how I can make my prop spinners  more pointy  and less  rounded,  as the kit ones  do not form enough of a point.

Is it just a matter of the shape of the cone or are the spinners too short? If it's just the shape of the cone, you should be able to reshape them somewhat more like the originals. you'll just have to take care not to file away too much material. If they are too short, it is a different problem/solution, and they will need to be built out with putty or something similar perhaps.

They are the right circumference  just not quite pointed enough  they  are kind of like a ball shape.

Right I had a go at the spinners  just  by using a sanding stick and working around  towards the tip.

If the weather is good tomorrow  I will prime the tail planes/right wing/spinners   and  do a  couple of coats of Green  on the masked areas, then I will pop them in a box with a lid  to let the smell go off a bit before taking them indoors.

Hi all,    so when I spoke last I was waiting on good weather so i could get out and do some spraying  -  its that frustrating time as I had some chores to do first  then our  twice weekly shopping deliveries to the house,  then I got the time to  step out the back to try  some spraying  -  "Rain"  not heavy just that  drizzly stuff, but  I had nothing else on mossie to  do till this painting was done,  I kept  my eye on the weather till later in the afternoon I spotted a dryer spell  but with a little bit of wind  - so I went for it,   I have one of those  12 inch long  plastic storage boxes with a hinged lid,  I took the parts with me in it  - got out the wing  first  and sprayed the Green  - It went down very well  until I noticed a flying thing  nat or something had landed on the  wet paint,  I put this in the box  and did the same to the main fuselage  - that went down the same but with no thing's  stuck to it,    I put them both in the box closed the lid  and was able to take them in the house without a worry over paint fumes.

Later after a couple of hours I was able to inspect the damage off the insect - I was able to scrape it gently off  - but it will need a small section of  primer then another  coat all over the Green areas  - the fuselage will get a second coat of green also  as I did the same with the Grey.

 

No pics though.
