It must give Ed much pleasure to see his work executed at such a level of excellence! Those tanks are spectacular, though ironically they would leak like a sieve at this point. I love the copper finished look. If you blacken them I suspect the rivet holes would vanish.

I like these clamps, they're perfect for this application.  Did you make them yourself?  I'd be interested to see what the other (outside) end looks like, too.

Yes, I made many  clamps   just for the hull. After milling with 304 stainless steel screw (thickness 1.0-1.2 mm) , the rib can be inserted into the place of very small spacing.

Thank you, Greg. Metal has a texture and sharpness that no other material can match; it's like polishing a perfectly polished surface so that even a tiny scratch can stand out. No matter what color it is, it still shows.☺️

It's amazing how fast you are progressing with this.  Your water tanks look fantastic!

In the closeup shot in the bow, it looks like there is some mottling or something on your iron reinforcing bands, is that just something the photo catches that the light doesn't see?  How did you do your banding, it is copper or something else?

The simulated stiffener is made of brass, blackened before laying, and a little glue is applied at the joints to prevent displacement. However, it is still inevitable that part of the process of separation and wear, which needs to be repaired in the post-production details.

Will you be leaving some planks off in order to see the iron cross works?

Yes, you're absolutely right. It's not my style to copy or copy someone else's way of making things.  :P

Must agree with Tony, you will have to forgive us for reusing the same terms repeatedly.

Hello, wefalck. I haven't seen your handsome face in my posts for a long time. As with my work, the studio is as clean as ever and all the tools are stacked in an orderly fashion. That's how I roll. Show everyone is a good side, behind the experience of countless failures and hardships. I'm sure you've been there. Good luck in the New Year! :P

I just found your build log and am virtually speechless. It is always humbling to see the highest level of workmanship exhibited so well. Your tooling is outstanding, The precision that you are achieving with your joinery is enviable.

On top of that you must have the best vacuum system in the world. What a joy to see your work, I will be following along as I take up knitting!

Hi, Michael. I think I should start by thanking  EDT for the near-perfect design drawings and process. When I first saw it, I couldn't resist the urge to make it! For this reason I gave up my previous plan and went all out to build it. This ship has given me the opportunity to show off, and also let me know more friendly friends from all over the world. I hope to be able to finish it in high quality within the year. Thank you for your encouragement and attention!

Hello,

I feel the same as Wefalck and Michael, by chance I came across this fantastic construction report.
I have followed Ed Tosti's report on the construction of the Young America with great interest for a long time.
Now I see your report on this beautiful clipper and the precision of your workmanship. I am thrilled and look forward to the continuation.

I am grateful to you for sharing your project with us.

Hey Bitao7697 - this is just wonderful!

I'm just amazed by your great accuracy and ability - what engineering - thank you for inspiring me! Just spent a day on my workshop and I cannot bring myself to photograph my very poor efforts now!

It's great to see your skills in so many disciplines - you are a master craftsman no doubt.

Looking forward very much to following your build.

Hello, Johann. Thank you for your attention. I was so impressed with the design and craftsmanship of Master Ed Tosti that I gave up on the other project and finished it first. But due to the limitations of the Internet, I can't see any more details. More often than not, I can't open a web page and give a timely response. I hope you can give me more guidance and criticism, so I can do better. Thank you!

Hi,FlyingFish.Thank you for your high opinion of me. I'm under a lot of pressure. . . Ha Ha! Hope that through our hard work, common exchange, can make their own satisfied with the work.

A few days ago, the old mother unfortunately died of illness, stop work for nearly a week to take care of the funeral. Yesterday I returned to the studio from my grief to continue my project. Emotionally, it may be a little slow, but I am committed to my goal of finishing my work within the year. Thank you for your encouragement and attention. I won't let you down.
