HMS Zulu 1942 & HMS Eskimo 1944 by RGL - FINISHED - Trumpeter - 1/350 - PLASTIC

Recommended Posts

Pity, i have a tiny 1:720 Eskimo only (came with the Revell Ark Royal kit https://www.revell.de/produkte/modellbau/schiffe/militaer-schiffe/hms-ark-royal-tribal-class-des.html ) but that one is pathetic. Forgive me, i was a kid when built.

What threads are you using for rigging? Is this an elastic one?

A bit sloppy tying your knots when you blow your images up like that. Fortunately it won't show viewed with the naked eye. Nice work on the rigging and antennea

I am starting to learn - this site is  bad bad place of desires  and  once lead in there is no escape.

should say -  so many amazing  kits coming out and being built  in here  (I said to myself  - "No  wont give in a get another ship kit"  - then I did.

I’m going to have to pause this build log for a while as the Micromaster remaining pieces are not yet ready. I’m going to have a little interlude mind you. I now have a bit of. Stash, 2 Vendettas and a Langley AV-3 if anyone is keen for a joint build but this is next

So I’m back on the Eskimo. Amazing when you keep searching, you keep seeing things that weren’t there before. The twin 20mm’s added by 1944 (there were 4 of them) went on the lower bridge wings (replacing twin vickers machine guns) and abaft the  quad Pom Pom. The forward ones had a pedestal beneath it replacing metal pillars with bracing. The kit is pretty much an exact replica of Zulu. A fair bit of bashing is required.

I apologize, I thought you have to add it to your model.

The photos were just for modelers who want to build the 1944 outfit.

Yep, it is amazing what you can find, if you do your research carefully. Thanks to the internet!
I am waiting for some photos from the Imperial War Museums, for instance. I would have never known about these resources without it.

So the standard fit out from the Trumpeter kits show an empty gun position for Zulu (I’m still awaiting a single 2pdr to go here) 25144B4C-808C-4F96-AB37-2288C3D0FE7B.thumb.jpeg.dc43d9c112a1f4e661095755dd590a3b.jpeg

Some really nice 'bodging' there Greg.  The added detail will look great when added and certainly show off the differences.

cheers
