An advantage that professional plumbers have is a (hopefully) well stocked truck.  Any plumbing project that I have ever tackled requires one and sometimes several trips to the store to get the correct parts.

Exactly. My project was completed with less than optimal tools, resulting in frustration and extra time required. But eventually it did get done (probably by the skin of my teeth). I watched Youtube how-to videos in vain, only to learn I did not have the correct tools. Buying the correct tools is cost prohibitive unless one is a professional plumber and then can recoup the cost in a relatively short time. There's a reason the cost of a plumber is high, and much of that is due to his investment in tools and equipment, not to mention know-how.

Oh man, I used the heck out of the automotive tools I once owned back in the day. Not so much these days. Been a long long time since I last owned a 60's car. More than 20 years ago. Last car I did any extensive work on was my '96 Buick Riviera. Loved the way that car looked and drove. Supercharged V-6. Once that car reached the end of its warranty, 36,000 miles, almost everything you can imagine started breaking and needing replacement.

Thanks on the 44 years. She's been a keeper.

And soon you will own a Mercedes. Hopefully with less work 😉

Notice the fuel tank on the firewall behind the engine which is unusual to me. Used to seeing the fuel tank in the rear.

That was common practice in the automotive world since the Model "T".... This car's design was based upon the W15 designed in '31 and represented a down market, lower cost family type model  introduction for Mercedes in 1931...... Only a 1.6 litre engine and top speed of 54 MPH.... (try to sell something like that today!) The Staff car version for the army was identical to their cabriolet civilian vehicle.... The first vehicle ever with four wheel fully independent suspension.... This is also the car that allowed Benz to survive the depression.... (much like the Model "A" and "B"'s did for Ford...  By 1936, most manufacturers, for safety reasons moved the fuel tank to the rear between the frame rails and behind the bumper... but that was response to the growing power and speed of the automobile.... Interesting to note that the Wehrmacht  passed three times on purchasing this vehicle in any numbers until 1938..... Mercedes-Benz built over 19,000 units of the 170 V with a "Kübelwagen"-type body (simple open-topped body for military use) for them as the 170 VK, making this the second-most produced German light open military vehicle of World War II.

Anyway, I think your nailing it my friend gonna be a nice one....

Probably just me, but I wondered why the kit did not contain a battery, and if it did, exactly where it was located with this vehicle. Any know? I can scratch build the battery but need to know where to place it.

Wouldn't supprise me if the put it underneath one of the Two front seats in a box like construction, can't find any reference to its actual location on the net.

I'll bet you are correct. Look at the first photo in the three photos above. There is a rectangular object on the bottom of the floor boards, under the driver's seat. I bet that's the battery box. No need to model a battery then as it would not be seen. Makes sense now why it's not part of the kit. Everything else is so well detailed, would be very surprised if they left out something like that.

You would win that bet.... the drivers seat flips forward over the steering wheel for access to the battery compartment.....

In some fashion that has not yet been fully determined, will use the sets of figures pictured in this thread (see some of the earlier posts) to complete the vignette (or diorama if you will 😃). I’ll have plenty of time to decide as the figures will take a while to complete. Figure painting is not my forte. I know very little about it and have attempted it even less. Will follow some tutorials in the process and see how it shapes up. Always love learning new things.

CDW,

Have a look at OC's Battle of Waterloo topic.  He does a great job of describing how he does figures.
