Hi,

As always thank you for the comments and support.  Latest update is the Bowsprit is now rigged as far as I can at present, so I'm now well under way with the Fore mast, and the spars are drying in their new colours. I find this part of the build one of the most rewarding, as you complete each stage you can see a significant change.

Hi all,

thanks to everyone for the kind comments and likes.  I thought that this was a suitable time to post a latest progress shot as tomorrow is the third anniversary for this build. As you can see I've made some inroads into the standing rigging and I'm currently working on the dead eyes.  A tip for anybody doing this one in future would be to leave the gun port covers until the rigging is complete as I've managed to knock about 50% of them off so far.

Finally a Happy New Year to you all

Glyn,

Your a star,  :D  the pictures you've sent are an absolute god send.  I've attached a picture of the planking provided for the decks, the colour in the picture seems to have remained true to the actual strips.

Hi Just wondering if you know what material this is?  I am about to start my build of this but want to put margin planks in.  The instructions refer to the material as a reference number 3258L but there is no cross referance so have no clue what material it is.

it's what they call Annegre.......Billing Boats and a few other manufacturers supply it in their kits.  I'm told it's a light colored mahogany,  although I've never bothered to research it.   for deck planking,  I might suggest using crayon.   you will need to do some scraping before you lay it down {to get the major crayon crumbs off},  but when you lightly sand it,  the crayon will work it's way into the wood,  and give it a nice hue.   semi gloss lacquer is what I use as a sealer.

Hi Stuart. Just finished HMS Warrior and thought you might consider some of the extras I added to the kit. I know its to late for gun deck cannons and lighting but I made all the other tenders and extra rope work which I found the kit sorely missing. When it came to the hammock racks around the gunwale I used 3mm dowel cut slightly short of the recess then wrapped the canvas around and tucked any loss ends in the gaps. You have to bend a few lengths to follow the bow line. I think if you go to Facebook and search for HMS Warrior you should come up with my build. Regards John Cook

Kits completed:-

HMS Bounty

HMS Terror

HMS Fly

HMS Warrior

Mississippi Paddle steamer

HMS Bellona
