HMS Victory by guraus - scale 1:48 - plank on frame

Recommended Posts

A fantastic build! I like your method construction that allows so much of the construction of the interiour to be viewed.

I contacted John McKay about purchasing a full set of plans. The cost was a little prohibitive but but from his book I believe them to be worthwhile! some where down the road I might be able to purchase. I assume you are using his plans in entirety?

The Learner,

I am using McKay's plans for this build and yes if you buy them all they are quite expensive. For the exact same reason I only bought 13 sheets at 1/48 scale and for the rest I am using the book.

Also you may want to consider at least a couple of plans drawn by him in the book: "HMS Victory Her Construction, Career and Restoration" by Alain McGowan. Maybe you noticed that the sections and waterlines are missing from the Anatomy of the ship book. In fact everything that is in this second book is missing from the other but I think they complete each other very nicely.

Masterful, outstanding, great, beautiful, awesome... All the words I can muster won´t be able to describe my awe. Have just gone through your log and just loved not only your careful job, but the fantastic pictures shared and the way they´ve been brought together. I feel tiny, right now, but not diminished - your work inspires me for higher standards. Gratz and thanks for the sharing.
