  1. Another awesome detail that you dont often see, thanks for going the extra mile Danny, Inspiring. ben
  2. Sweet Paul, I look forward to seeing all this detail of the piping under there, knowing your skills it will be amazing. Ben
  3. Hi mark, when you say wood supplier, do you mean Jeff? If so is his chest bad again? Intrigued by this deck sander, can't wait to see it. Ben
  4. Thank the gods your back Chris, it's great to see your beautiful Confederacy back on MSW again, really happy the twins and wife are doing well and you may get some time back in the workshop. Will you repost all of your build pics if you get time? Again - happy your back in the saddle and I get to see your wonderful build again. Ben
  5. Good comments in your planking experience JP, it would seem you have learnt all of the major pitfalls, experiences and techniques of planking a hull properly and well, very proud of you for sticking with it, your next model will be a totally different experience because you know what to expect and will want to exceed the quality of your first build. Congrats again man on this milestone. Ben
  6. Rusty, you are getting seriously accomplished with cutting the rabbit with a chisel, when I get setup I'm going to make my keel and rising wood for the Echo again using the JimSaw to see the difference between it and markI hand tool version. Ben
  7. Glad to see you working at the deck again mark and great news that the admiral is recovering well. I'm going through a lot if the same life issues as you it seems at the moment, but I hope to get back building this week. I'm sure mark V will be awesome. Ben
  8. Hi Andy, well done on the purchase of a TFFM book, they are all worth having as there is great info for any type of ship build. Ben
  9. Awesome comings there Rusty, the red heart looks superb, never used it myself but after seeing that I may consider it, is it good to machine, hard enough to hold a sharp edge or are you just that good with the joinery now. Love it all man, you always inspire me to better and greater things. Ben
  10. Congrats on the birthday gifts there Sjors, nice collection of equipment and I'm sure you will allow Anja to use them without permission anytime she desires, if you don't want the moderator in her to ban you from MSW :-) So you will go to the darkside one day!! That I will watch out for! Ben
  11. Damn Ed, sometimes your work just leaves me speechless! Can't wait for Vol 2 of the book. You really do show in detail what is possible if your a master craftsman. I don't think I've ever seen a build at your level before. Ben
  12. Hi Dan, I see you rebated for the spectacle plate as well, wasn't it normally above the water line? Wouldn't affect drag?? Was it done for strength reasons. I will read through TFFM again I think, never saw any mention of that before. Ben
  13. SWEET, simply outstanding Bob. And I agree we are always our worst critics. Ben
  14. DA DA DA DUM DE DA, DUM DE DAH. lol. Come on Andy, follow me from the Pegasus to the Confederacy, and then down the rabbit hole to the darkside and the Echo. Ben
  15. Hi Jason, did you use temporary batterns to help get an even sheer line or did you just use the laser etch marks? I think Chuck recommended to use the batterns incase the bulkhead heights were slightly off or the etch marks were incorrect. Ben
  16. Very well done JP, I for one think you've done an excellent job on the hull planking, shows what patience and a will to learn will give great results in the end. I look forward to see how you whitewash turns out, just remember as always to test on scrap wood before you commit it to the hull, just to be sure you like the effect. Ben
  17. Sjors - enjoy the trip to England, you will love visiting the Victory, make sure you go to the Mary Rose and Warrior as well while you are at Portsmouth. I will be in England in August and plan a trip to Grenwich NMM. If you need a break from the Mirage, take it! Remember its not a race! It's a hobby! I haven't done a thing to any of my models in a few weeks but I am starting to feel the urge coming back. Ben
  18. Wow Andy, some fast progress there, you will have her finished before your next tour if you keep this rate up. Nice work on the masts and bowsprit. Ben
  19. Interesting Kevin, seen her a few times when she was under the water sprays. Thanks for posting it. Ben
  20. Thanks for the progress updates paul, always a pleasure to see more of your work. ben
  21. I will post pics of my new toys when they arrive, really excited! What wood is that keel made if Rusty? Ebony? Ben
