Grant - Congrats on finishing the ratlines, a major milestone in any build, and it all looks superb, very well done my friend. Can't wait to see the next update and post lots of pics for you know who... Ben

Wow - that is gonna be a Whopper! Are you going to build entirely from that cherry or has an order been put into our friend Jeff? BTW I just ordered some 1/16 boxwood to make the Confeds double beaded moldings - couldn't get a decent result with the basswood. Ben

I would suggest the Syren from model shipways, plenty of logs here on MSW to look at, superb design and instructions from Chuck who is the Administrator of this site. Quality of parts and backup support from MS is superb. It would also be a good step up from where you are now. Ben

Sweet work there Andy, ahhh the joys of rigging, I'm sure you will do a first rate job like the rest of the build. Just keep posting photos for Sjors to keep him sane. Ben

Scott, got to agree with the others, a superb kit with very good instructions. And you can chat with the designer Chuck Passaro right here on MSW as he is one of the Admins, ask all the questions you can but Im sure you wont be dissapointed. ben

Hi jason and very well done up to now, your motoring right along. I do have a question on what you are using for paint? the ME paint that was optional? looks like it was going on a bit thick, maybe try thinning it down but adding more coats, may give better results. ben

These things are bound to happen when you have a lot of rigging to do, love the fix! I think I have made more mistakes on the Confeds stern than you have made on your entire rigging :-) Ben

Sorry rusty for posting stuff on your log. Yves - Chuck is an extremely busy guy, he runs and looks after this site god bless him, he always goes out of his way to help anyone, we can ask and expect NO more from him!!! If HE chooses to do above and beyond, which he usually does, then great. But he is not a manufacturer! He maybe covers his costs but I doubt that as well. Please respect the work that he does designing the best kits on the market IMHO. Chuck - thank you, your a steely eyed missile man. Ben- 149 replies

Hi, I will take some pics of the other castings and post them, If I remember right they were not as bad as the figurehead ( absolute crap ), but nowhere near as nice as the resin ones that Chuck did - wish he would make some more ( pretty please ) . ben- 149 replies

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
