  1. What happened to Ocooch Wood Supplier listed as a supporter with a link to their web Page. Wood and prices appeared good was going to order some Butternut and Hard Maple and noticed they have been removed. Problems with the Company???
  2. Matiz, Another piece of art being created on this site, very nice.
  3. All I can say IMPRESSIVE. Kudos on a scale from 1 to 10 a 15
  4. Grant, As usual finished build fantastic. I have no idea what I propose would work and have o experience since we are dealing with a model boat but the theory may be the same. If the larger prop does not work it may put you on a plane but lug down where you may not get the speed. It may be you can order or use the first prop and change the pitch?
  5. Ken, Your build is excellent, the picture of your hometown (serenity).
  6. Jesse Lee I have to add my 2 cents re: The made cleats over the metal is the difference between an ok model or a class 1 build, these are the small things that hits you between the eyes in the appearance of a finished build. I am really surprised they included those nasty looking cleats in the model that was not cheap and would have added little if any to the cost of the kit. Very nice job you improved the appearance by 100%
  7. Robin Lous, Superb build, enjoyed the way you approached the ram, you showed tenacity and for every problem there is a solution. Kudos
  8. Mehmet, Absolutely first class you have made it come to life kudos on a scale of 1 to 10- I give it a 12.
  9. Nils, Always enjoy tagging along watching the progression of your builds. You always seem to add side notes that tell a story with all your little visitors. As always excellent work.
  10. Chris, Very very nice build, the lines on this boat are classic from bow to stern its so smooth it just flows like the rolling swells on a calm sea. Kudos
  11. Grant, We know now its not a mousetrap, looking more like a sandal?? I'll stick with you to the end on this one, going to be very interesting!
  12. Carl, Even if i was adept with an airbrush each piece would appear to be crying with all the runs. Caught your build late must have been asleep, by the way fantastic build first class.
  13. So right, grain is straight, dowels have a twisting grain and you think its straight then down the road you find the mast begins to have a slight lean n the direction of the twist of the grain learned that the hard way when buying cheap dowels.
  14. Grant, It looks great so far, very interesting build you always attack with such great "elan". One question the last pics are they flying machine or better mouse trap?
  15. Dan, I nixed the color partially painted and obtained a very dark crimson color a little darker than a maroon. The pictures show colors all over the place but historically the main color by written accounts of explorers of the day was the dark red. Thanks for the response.
  16. Ulises, Mamoli Victory on the last page of rigging and making mistakes going to fast needed a break. Have it covered do to dust from this build.
  17. Have a conundrum, historically war canoes were painted red, also black and white symbolizes death, not considering a brown stain except for interior, red the most prevalent color. 1. Attached photo of beginning build do not like this shade of red, needs to be much darker. In fact if the whole canoe is red except bow and stern carvings that's a lot of red. Have viewed hundred of pages of canoes and am confused at this point. 2. looking at burlap for sail but worried about the size of the weave may be too large will dye red according to historical accounts. Need suggestions from you Australians and New Zelanders Thanks
  18. Jack, Stand corrected on Lowes grit. I don't know how long they have been out I'm like a kid these things are fantastic especially if you have these 2 friends Arthur & Itis
  19. I second the sanding sticks had them for about 6 months still in good shape there cheap. Also found this flexible foam palm sander at Wal-Mart has 10 pads of different grits held by Velcro is extremely flexible will get into most areas extremely soft and pliable, easy on the wrist and fingers, sanding pads last forever well almost. True value has them as well as Lowe's. Lowe's sander is a bit bigger and offers only 2 grits 60, 120 they also have a bigger one shaped like a palm sander. Really one of the best sanding products for the money. The small one at WM $ 5.99 Lowe's bigger one $ 6.00
  20. Frank, I think you made the right decision, its a work boat (a beautiful one at that kudos).
