  1. Just remember model expo sells the ship’s boats for $8.99 with free shipping on EBay for when you need a replacement.
  2. All hope is never lost. You can get fillers that will nearly match the wood, or add sawdust to glue and make your own. I also have a bad habit of just filling the gaps and painting the hull. I am not partial to unpainted models though, but that’s just my preference.
  3. Welcome!
  4. The carronades are test fitted on their sleds: And test mounted on the Victory: The deck blocks need to be thicker.
  5. I look forward to seeing a build log!
  6. I made the decision that I am going to run a reduced version of the outhaul tackle and the breech rope on the guns on the upper gun deck. They won’t really be visible, but they will be there.
  7. Looking at them, next to the ones that came in the kit, you can really see the difference. The ones Mantua provided were way oversized for the upper deck. I’m glad that I decided to make the rest myself. I’m very happy with how they are turning out.
  8. Thanks, Vthokee! I’m very happy with how they are turning out.
  9. Thanks, OC! I assembled the carriages for the short twelves. While I wait for those to dry, I am going to start working on tracing out the sleds for the carronades. After they dry, I’ll paint them and then drill holes for the eyebolts. I’m using the Tichy HO scale eyebolts again due to the diameter of the thread I’ll need to stay in scale. They will be inside the hull, so I shouldn’t have problems with them breaking again. Just for the record, this will probably be the last sailing ship that I build, for myself, at this small of scale. The rest of mine will most likely be at 1/72, like the Prince de Neufchatel.
  10. I use them all the time, too. They work well for me.
  11. Congratulations, M. Delacroix! Your work is fantastic! I look forward to seeing them on Ancre!
  12. Or dry brush charcoal gray over the black. That’s how I made mine a few years ago (1/144 scale Trumpeter kit)
  13. Interesting reading. Thank you for posting these.
  14. All I can say is to work slowly. You are doing an awesome job on the Pearl and the crew!
  15. Thank you very much! The ten carriages for the long twelves and the two for the medium twelve pound bow chasers are made. I still need to paint them. I’ll paint them after I make the last six for the short twelves.
  16. 72 wheels. The rear wheels are 1/16” less in diameter than the front wheels.
  17. Thank you all! I’m currently working on making the gun carriages for the long twelves:
