You can't mean that, Igor. It can't be true, you must be having a giant match stick and blow up fingers ... 2.5mm Do you really want to make double and tripple blocks at the planned smaller size ...?

Dan, I still wonder about the size, I know Igor uses a giant match stick, and Patrick a hughe watch, but I can't seem to get a hold on your build. Must be quite big to get the details so spiffy! The bridge brushed up rather well I would say even at 100% Cheers

20 cm and they take orders for your models I've got to get downunder ... Hope you are doing fine, Greg, and as Mr Bunny wrote: "Don't over do anything and get plenty of rest." We are used to waiting ... although somehow I never get used to it! Take care mate! Cheers Carl

Ever sat in restaurant with only booths??? Frank, A very nice find. Very slick. Julie, You have your chiselin' cut out for you I'm gonna like this, I'll just sit back and relax, and watch her chiseliness create a piece of art

No mill nearby which can do the initial cutting. It seems to me a bit of a waste to plan 1/3 of the thickness ...

"Testing colors ... I just realized that all of my acrylic paints are just hardened ... " Unlike gouache, or water colours acrylic doesn't disolve again in water ... what a waste

I would suggest to use the same method as for the single blocks Jan does have a point though. You still haven't said what is wrong ... although, your top mast is a bit short, and a yard is missing below the top mast, as far as I could distinguish on a picture

Igor, Usually we see our errors (to) late. Fortunately you know how to correct them! I like your blocks. So easy to handle

Mike, The best way to avoid warping is to quarter saw the wood. A disadvantage of this method, you won't make optimal use of the width of the timber, however, that is of lesser import when you consider the sizes needed for modelbuilding

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
