What a great start to the deck planking. Are you going to simulate treenails on these deck planks? Good work.

I think I might take on board what you have done on my next build. Never thought about rigging without blocks. I have a rule as to finish one build before starting another. Keep up the great work.

I love ships. But not only that, I would like to one day see a kit developed of a late 18th- Early 19th century Gold dredge. I really love dredges. Especially the gold rush Bucket line pond dredges. They are very interesting and unique. There is a model of one in the Cromwell information Center based in Central Otago, New Zealand. These wooden behemoths of the rivers and ponds are a big part of history during the gold rushes of the world and all come in lots of different shapes and sizes. This type of model will incorporate lots of wooden boat building as well as offering the Adventurus modeler a chance to work lots with metal parts too. Lots of winch gear work for working the machinery and also control the anchor lines. Plenty of detail to include and lots of photos from around the world for research. Anyway that is my two cents spent.

Your cannons look amazing! I rigged with the rope around the cannon bell only. Too fiddly to add the others you have done. Well done, Nice neat work.

Wish I had a spare room I could do that! Your ship looks great. Beautiful attention to detail. Well done. I particularly like the framing around the cat heads as they pass through the bulwarks. Are the cannons going to be blackened by any chance?

Better veiw here. These lines were coated in beeswax and glued with 50:50 white glue. I find it easier to handle off the ship when stropping these.

Here are a couple from my Friesland build. I try to get the shroud tied right above the top hole. Sorry about the pic on the angle. Can't seem to fix that.

Those are very poorly fabricated deadeyes! The larger one might as well have just one hole in the center. Your doing a great job.

Sewing thread would be suitable for maybe this scale. Don't tension your lines to tight. And stay very clear of CA glues as they tend to brittle and stain the lines over time. To help fix your chain plates to the sides, Insert the brass nails I presumed came in the kit. Works securely and you don't have to rely on the bond of your glue to hold all of your shroud assembly.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
