  1. We old fossils surprise ourselves LOL. Don't sell yourself short. The rational for him is excellent. While I'm thinking of it.. you can also make parts for your existing projects......
  2. All restorations are usually put in the Scratch area in the appropriate time era. Also, add the key word to the end of the title "RESTORATION". We get restoration logs for many different models of varied quality and accuracy so don't sweat that. All ship models are welcome as well as builder of all levels.
  3. You might as well jump in, Lou. He'll probably be asking you for help with it (or not). Besides, you might find it useful one of your builds.
  4. I think that's a good approach. You'll at least get to learn to use the airbrush sooner. I'm glad you liked the idea.
  5. I've seen several of these finds of late in the Google News feed. Not just Roman but Viking also.
  6. Pity that it'll just sit in the box, OC. What about using it for the base coat of the uniforms? <nudge, nudge, wink, wink>
  7. Sorry to hear about the surgery but happy that you're getting back to normal.
  8. Looking good, OC. As for the admiral's comment.. will you take her up on that?
  9. Alan, sometimes that's the best thing to do. As for your kit, open a log in the kit area.
  10. Brian, Thanks for posting those. She's coming together very well and I do like what I see there.
  11. I like it also. Usually, cut outs I've seen are rather irregular but with yours I think the paint sets it off so a viewer won't think it's part of the hull. Can you post a photo from side?
  12. Sweet. Looks like a great kit.
  13. Gary, Since you're new here, a bit of guidance..... Welcome aboard MSW. All caps is considered yelling. So go with upper and lower case please. Also, don't put your email addy in a post. We get crawled by a lot of bots and it won't be long before you get horrible amounts of spam or worse. I've removed your email from your post. Do an introduction here: https://modelshipworld.com/forum/3-new-member-introductions/ if you would. As for your question, you should probably ask it here: https://modelshipworld.com/forum/13-discussions-for-ships-plans-and-project-research-general-research-on-specific-vessels-and-ship-types/ Having said that, I don't think the Constitution was ever on the Great Lakes.

  15. Can you post some more info Phil? Maybe a photo of what you're looking for? Is this a hand sander or powered sander? Size of the drum?
  16. Any real hobby shops around, Chris? Seems HobbyLobby really doesn't have much in the way of the stuff we use and a bigger problem I've found is the staff seems clueless.
  17. I'd say go with your gut feeling and research, Craig. I hope you can sort the deck out before you cross the line of no return.
  18. Sorry to hear that, Paul. A very painful event. I too hope the next project goes well.
  19. From here, it's been a great journey and learning experience, Eric. I'm glad you shared it. I hope the model does well in the competition as it's a beautiful tribute to your father-in-law.
  20. Part of our problem in today's world is that back then perspective seems to have not been used. Thus, people seem to always look larger than the boat/ship.
