  2. Ronald, I suggest you go here: https://modelshipworld.com/forum/98-planking-downloads-and-tutorials-and-videos/ There's vids and tutorials on planking. There's one for "simplified" planking which might be a good one to read first.
  3. This project will give you a lot of the skills needed, Kevin.
  4. I don't envy having to make that decision, Yves. Both are masterful pieces of work.
  5. What Denis said about the bedroom versus kitchen... I'm still rolling on the floor with laughter. From where I sit, it quite well done. Like many things, we sometimes need a few under our belts to be comfortable doing them.
  6. I too, build that model way back when they were actually flying. One impressive aircraft though except for nukes it didn't have much it could be used for. Where I lived as kid (Dayton, OH) we lived near the base there often one of those would come in for landing or take off.... what a sight to see.
  7. Third time is apparently the key. LOL...
  8. Welcome to MSW. I agree with Louie Da Fly... do start a build log and let us look over your shoulder.
  9. To add a consideration also. Possibly because of windage and also the "quality" and burn time of the powder, it's likely that much power went out the muzzle when firing. Both around the ball and also still burning after the ball left the muzzle. As these improved the need for breechings increased.
  10. Hi JM, I built that kit many moons ago. As for treenails, at that scale they will be way to large and make the hull look like it has freckles. When I built it, the instructions said they were for "holding parts in place" which I took to mean "until the glue dries".
  11. Derek, I'm not sure about the blades. At the time the document was written, Jim wasn't offering a selection in blades. You mght PM him here on MSW and ask. If he doesn't, use the sources or search for a supplier in Canada. If you find one, post it here.
  12. Welcome to MSW, Clark. Good choice on a starter kit. When you start it, do a log as it's great way to get help.
  13. If that doesn't work.. see Grant's Alfa Romeo build. The link should take you to the page where he shows a painted? chrome product and results.
  14. As always, Doris, stunningly beautiful and inspirational. I've printed out a couple to hang on my shop wall to set a standard that I'll probably never achieve...
  15. I've been flowing this and the research and work are excellent. Is there still more do because I'm looking forward to it.
  16. The fruits of the research turned out great, Daniel. I'm still not sure I like that color they use for the current one.
  17. Happy belated birthday, Eric. Nice bit of motivation you recieved.
