Welcome to MSW, Patrick. When you start the model, open a log in the kit build area as it's a great way to get help and show your progress. As for tool, we do have a tool section and a jig section which might be of some help.

Tips for accurate bulk head alignment.
mtaylor replied to David W K's topic in New member Introductions
Hi David, Welcome to MSW. Hopefully you'll tell us a bit more about yourself. As for the bulkheads, do a bit of searching here: https://modelshipworld.com/forum/14-building-framing-planking-and-plating-a-ships-hull-and-deck/ You will probably find many ways of doing this. Also, if you go here: https://modelshipworld.com/topic/17023-quick-find-indexes-to-build-logs-for-kits/ , you'll find indexes for all the kit builds. Should be quite a few on the Syren. -
Welcome aboard, Andre. For a first model, that looks impressive and shows way beyond beginner skills.

1930 BENTLEY 4.5 LITRE by MadDogMcQ - AIRFIX 1:12th Scale
mtaylor replied to MadDogMcQ's topic in Non-ship/categorised builds
What Denis said about the bedroom versus kitchen... I'm still rolling on the floor with laughter. From where I sit, it quite well done. Like many things, we sometimes need a few under our belts to be comfortable doing them. -
Welcome to MSW. I agree with Louie Da Fly... do start a build log and let us look over your shoulder.

To add a consideration also. Possibly because of windage and also the "quality" and burn time of the powder, it's likely that much power went out the muzzle when firing. Both around the ball and also still burning after the ball left the muzzle. As these improved the need for breechings increased.

Welcome to MSW, Clark. Good choice on a starter kit. When you start it, do a log as it's great way to get help.

As always, Doris, stunningly beautiful and inspirational. I've printed out a couple to hang on my shop wall to set a standard that I'll probably never achieve...

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
