  1. Hi Glenn,
  2. Bruce, Before buying any tools... go here in the article database: http://modelshipworldforum.com/ship-model-materials-and-tools.php There's several articles on tools including one about tools to not buy.
  3. Charlie, On the coamings... will they be set into the deck planking or on top of it? You might want to lay some dummy deck planking (don't even need to glue it down) to check the height of the coamings. I'm not even going to try to sort out the carronades as I've not run into any yet in my builds to have given them thoughts..
  4. The easiest way is to paint the rigging with some matte varnish or use a 50/50 mix of white glue and water. I use the glue/water myself but.. some types of line shrink so test first.
  5. Hi Jay, I finally caught up with your log. I hope you don't mind if I follow along. Interesting wood choices you've made and you're giving me ideas....
  6. I think what Eric said pretty much sums it up..... Keep doing what your doing. It looks great.
  7. Better to have too many lids than not enough, Bug. Good progress....
  8. Hi Anja, Good to see you back... I'm following also now that Sjors has the popcorn machine.
  9. Nicely done, Jack. You're becoming a soldering and metalwork master as well as a knot tier and rigger.
  10. Nice work, Sjors. I like the sneaky... I've done it myself.
  11. Thanks for posting John. Very informative and some wonderful work there to study.
  12. Wow... Gaetan. This is a tutorial of it's own and the result is stunning.
  13. Good idea to plan and build ahead, Dave. Things are looking good. And happy belated birthday and may you have a great time in Boston.
  14. Wonderful. The working crew adds a lot to your model.
  15. I'm not sure I should have liked that post... but it's an acknowledgement to your injury. Hopefully you'll heal faster than that doc said.
  16. Don't feel bad, Kevin. I think we all forget things in the process. There's just too much to remember.
  17. Beautiful frames, Karl. She'll be a beauty.
  18. As I recall, Pasi used the Lumberyard timbering set. But.. have a look at the front page for sponsors or go here (pinned topics at the top) for wood suppliers: http://modelshipworld.com/index.php/forum/20-wood-discussion/
  19. Gemma, To get you started.. have a look at the database of articles here: http://modelshipworldforum.com/ship-modeling-articles-and-downloads.php The Plans and Research area has articles on lines drawings (and how to read them) and some CAD tutorials.
  20. If it's a Mamoli kit, hang tight. Daniel Dusek bought Mamoli out after their fire and will be (or is in the process) of reissuing many of their kits. I believe from what I've heard, he's laser cutting the wood, etc.
