Just one impressive boat you have going there.  I'd love to be shrunk down and take her out on the lake.

G'day Patrick

One word: bloooodymarvelous, INDEED my mate you are going great guns. I understand what going on with the stern door now.

The are no words which I can convey my gob smack how tiny your creation is,and how much detail it has so far. You holding the ship tells us all the true miniscule it really is.

Hi Piet - many thanks for your compliment. I must admit that I'm pretty happy how she can fit in the palm of my hand.

Hi Denis - thanks! You're right about having lots more to go, but as long as I'm having fun, it's all good to me. Although, I have to say, that it's hard to know what to tackle next because the list keeps getting longer and longer.

Hi Greg- Thanks for your comments. I was also surprised at the relative size of the model when I saw the photo of it in my hand. For some reason, whilst working on her everyday, I'd lost sight of just how tiny she really was. A bit of a reality check, I guess.

Just one impressive boat you have going there.  I'd love to be shrunk down and take her out on the lake.

Thanks Mark. I reckon I'd love to do the same! I can just imagine cruising on her in our goldfish pond. A scary thought, though, when you think that our goldfish are actually bigger than the hull!

Very Sweet Patrick, That is looking good, Beautiful work

Best Regards,

Pete

Hi Pete - thanks and I really appreciate your comments. Still lots to go, but she keeps my mind ticking over constantly; which, can't be a bad thing!

She sure is looking fine Patrick. Looking forward to future updates.

You capture that glossy white paint job perfectly! Seeing her in your hand really goes to show how mich detail and work you've put into her! Just remember to watch out for the goldfish when riding her. Definitely don't try to go fishing :D!

With the model in your hand, its small size comes into perspective, looking at the full interior in the last close up photos I had forgotten just how small. Also, the wooden decks really bring the model into life and hide the bulk of the structure. Looking very good Patrick!

Hi Elijah - Thanks and I'll definitely beware of the goldfish.  They can be a bit feisty at times; especially during feeding time.

Hi Vaddoc - Many thanks.  I also really like the wooden decks, because to my mind, it gives the ship a bit of 'soul' and breaks up the stark whiteness of the superstructure.

All the best!

Hi everyone

Hope you're all well and thanks for your Likes and compliments!

I've done a lot of work on Majellan over the week, most of which can't be seen; mainly because it involved a lot of measuring, cutting and fine tuning how each deck sat upon the one below it. Although it may not ybe immediately apparent in the photos, the decks are looking much better than before (well, I think so, anyway).

Also, just for fun, I thought I'd also put Magellan alongside some of her sisters in my miniature fleet, namely, Symphony (Ketch), Mystic (cabin cruiser) and Rainbow (J Class). It's interesting to sit back and look at the relative sizes of each model when compared against each other. I still can't believe how small Mystic is in comparison to the others!

Have a great weekend, everyone.

Cheers

Patrick

Hey Patrick!

It's been a while since I caught up - things are looking excellent. The last set of pictures is a good indicator of how great this boat is going to turn out once finished - seeing her 'sisters' all together my honest first impression was a reminder of how great they all turned out. High, high quality work!

Good luck on continuing to get the exterior fit and finish you're looking for!

Hi Ben

Many thanks for dropping by and for your compliments! I hope all's well with your exams and family.

Hopefully it won't be too much longer before you finish your current round of studies, so that you can get back into your shipyard.

Hi Nils

Many thanks! Seeing the fleet together really put into perspective what this hobby is all about - fun, satisfaction and achievement. If these qualities aren't present, then the enjoyment is gone. Hopefully that day will never come for me.

Have a great weekend.

Cheers

Hi Bob

Many thanks! I wish I knew where that machine was, too. All I know is that someone keeps using it on my wallet. Each day, my wallet just keeps getting smaller and smaller...LOL.

Anyhow, enough of my bad jokes! You have a good one.

Hi Greg

OMG! That brings back so many memories I loved that show when I was a kid, especially the space ship that they travelled in. There were other great shows at the time which had fantastic models, such as Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea and the Thunderbirds. Boy, I'm getting old...

I like to do it too.........a while ago I had put the Holiday boats together fora progress report.   I think it's due again  ;)

your fleet is growing.........amazing how small the mystic is compared to the others.   I guess that's what you get for skimping on materials  :D  :D

Majellan is looking great.....I think you may end up elongating the deck pillars though.......I don't think you can shrink the structures down any more than they are.   I really like that futuristic design  ;)

Hi George - Yep, those shows were great, even despite the bad acting and predictable storylines.  I can always remember being amazed at the models and how realistic they were able to make them look.  Ahh, the good ole days!

Well now that you have had a bit of practice when are you going to start the real models?

Michael

Hi Michael - I'd love to build the real thing one day.  Alas, I can't really see that happening any time soon.  I gotta admit, whenever I think of what you've been able to do with your Maria, well, it just makes me dream.  You're a lucky man, for sure!

I like to do it too.........a while ago I had put the Holiday boats together fora progress report.   I think it's due again   ;)

Thanks Denis - You know, skimping, or no skimping, I actually doubted whether I could build Mystic.  I don't have Igor's skills at the super-mini scales, but I was able to build all the internal details, which proves that you never know what you can achieve until you try.

You're also right about having to elongate the deck pillars on Magellan's superstructure.  For some reason, I must've miscalculated the height of the cabin walls, which meant that the pillars didn't actually meet like they're supposed to.  I guess at this scale, the cumulative effect of this error has meant that, I'll just have to cheat and elongate the pillars.  I don't really have any other option, apart from rebuilding the whole superstructure.  And...I ain't doing that; that's for sure!

G'day Patrick.

Maybe you can build the SPINDRIFT as your next model! If you can get plans etc.

Hi Greg - Mmmm, a model of Spindrift, now that's food for thought!  It'd actually be quite a fun project, but getting hold of the plans would be hard, I guess.
