Privjet Valeriy, can you share a picture of how you built the platforms ?
cools stuff. Regards sascha

Hi Sasha. I'm afraid I didn't understand your question. Google translator distorts a lot when translating three times.

Show on the photo with an arrow what detail you are asking about. :)

It is fixed between two parts of the mast. Like a washer between a nut and a bolt head.

If I understood you correctly. :)

Valeriy - your soldering is always very neat. You must tell me how you keep it so clean.

Valeriy,

Very nice work - as usual!

I sometimes use a Dremel motor tool with a wire brush to remove excess solder from joints. It is very effective for removing excess solder.

There are also triangular scrapers with the 2.34 mm shank of the standard burrs, which can be conveniently held in a pin-vise.

Long before I learned about all the fancy jeweller's and engraver's tools, I bought a couple of cheap, about 2" long screwdrivers and ground their ends into chisels/scrapers for cleaning out soldered corners.

Arrrrgh! You have all shattered my dreams. I thought Valeriy had discovered some way of only making the solder go where he wanted it to go. I am a broken man!

Well, flux is usually what will steer the solder, especially if you use it sparingly.

Metal ratlines  are therefore easier to work with

Ah! that makes a lot of sense - good idea. What are the vertical lines (shrouds) made from - they look like a braided wire?

I gather this depends on what was used on the prototype. In Valery's case, these are not sail-carrying masts I believe and at that time, indeed, iron bars or wooden battens were used as rat'lines'. In Keith's case this is a traditional sailing rig with (probably) metal-wire shrouds and hemp ratlines.

It is rather difficult to tie knots into wire (I tried repeatedly ...) and wire kinks easily, which then are difficult to remove. If anything, I would use twisted wire for the purpose, as twisting two or three wires together makes them more flexible and less prone to kinking.

Still, I would look for the thinnest fly-tying yarns that you can get hold of. The thinnest I found was Veevus 16/2. Caenis also makes very thin ones. Avoid the monofilaments, because knots dont't hold in them very well and they look unnatural, because they are smooth.

You cannot fool me  Valeriy. We all know that the Russians like to have the largest of anything and you keep inserting giant matches into the picture to make all else look small!:D....................... I am, as always, astounded with your work. Hope that translates OK!

Lou, I realized that my little trick with the big match failed.  :) :)  I'll have to think of a plan "B"...  ;)

Thank you for your cheerful feedback.
