Thank you for clarifying. I asked because it wasn't unusual to plate over this type of gun emplacement as generally they were of very little use in anything other than calm weather.

On the Varyag, these guns were in the wardroom. In the stowed position, the glass windows were closed with steel folding shutters.

It's great to hear that you and your family are safe, Valery.   And it's also great you have something to focus on.

  • 2 weeks later...

Life goes on and my work goes along with it. :)

I am engaged in the manufacture of combat searchlights.
I don't have a good blueprint for this spotlight, and I don't even know its name. Therefore, I had to develop my drawing according to the available several photographs.

When I read the second line of your post, I first thought you were now working on 1:1 scale equipment ... I admire you, that you keep going under such taxing circumstances - isn't Zaporizhia just NE of Kiyw ?

Thank you!

Zaporozhye is located from Kyiv to the southeast about 700 km.

Valeriy, beautifully done. Soft solder I assume. Keep your head down. Best wishes.

Happy to hear from you and that you continue your fantastic micro work. If you don't mind, I will use your searchlight design on Amapá. I am also glad that, even though you are close to Mariupol, you are still okay.

Valeriy,

thanks heaven, so good to hear from you again!

Nice work as usual. Take care and all the best.

Maybe these are of some help to you. The Searchlights are mainly German manufacture from Siemens, Schuckert etc. around year1900 and were in use by German Imperial Navy.

Best regards

Joachim
