Great progress, love that kit!

Unfortunately the rigging for the ruder is not going to work! It should follow the green lines.

Dirk

Hi Dirk,

thanks for your comment. Looking at your picture it is clear that the tiller has to move around the circle which the setup from the kit will not allow! I had this section in mind for a long time. I plan to re-do it anyways. Use iron hooks instead of strap on the tiller (so the tackle can be easily removed) and also I will look at the possibility to move the bulwark block more aft.

Adjustments of tiller tackles.

According to the scheme from Dirk I draw the lines to AVOS plans to see how much I need to move the bulwark double blocks. It turned out that not much which is great as it will not be in the way of latrine doors. I have take the tiller out of the model and made Iron belt with 2 eyes for tackle hooks

And the result (the coil will be replaced later)

It looks much cleaner then before.. IMG_20191015_160714.thumb.jpg.4c818f2f4409460584e9ddb0a69be2fd.jpgIMG_20191015_160744.thumb.jpg.ef27b85319e568a725105f0ab7db8684.jpg

Please pay attention, that the first variant was done in a way, mirrored from the one, presented in the drawings. You fastened the standing end not very close to the hilt. So obviously the fastening points on the bulwark have to be moved in this case. If done according to the drawings, no moving is required. Especially because the rudder rotation angle is not that great.

Hi, yes you are right. I did the mistake that the blocks on the tiller were fastened further from the end (that was the first version). I have corrected it and this is the final result (with hooks).

Thank you very much for all reactions!

Preparation of the mast. It is carved from 6mm dovel. Not sure what kind of wood that is. Top mast, yards, boom, gaff are all in pear again. First  I was sad that the main mast is not also in pear but now I like the light color. It will look good with contrast of other pear items.

Top mast ready and full height reached! She is quite tall. Mast cap with Iron belt. There will be also 2 Iron belts on the mast head but I want place stays and shrouds first.

Comparision with RC 1:48 (she is waiting for the rest of the rigging in the dock)

Thank you guys!!

Some more additions. I have finished footropes for spreadsail yard.

IMG_20191104_165805.thumb.jpg.73ecc196340f30460fb8c487a3bc86c5.jpgIMG_20191104_165841.thumb.jpg.c1646adf3fecba271f11b280e2d41d9d.jpg

And start to adding ropes to the mast. Already There are backstays, 4 pairs of shrouds and spreadsail jackstay. I have also added the iron belts with eyes for blocks. Ropes are served in areas where interfere with mast.

Now it can be taken off the jig

Hi Peta,

Please can you or someone explain or preferably show how to remove this little boat from the jig.

Every build I have followed where one of these small Master Korabel boats are being built says exactly the same thing.

"Remove from jig", but nobody shows or explains how to do this.

I have built the MK0102 and almost destroyed my build trying to remove it from the jig.

I am about to build this one, and do not want to go through the same heart stopping procedure again.

Many thanks,

Tony

@Galley Slave

As you can see the jig is covered with foil and hull is not glued to the jig. Only the tops of the frames are glued to the jig. Once the hull is planked the tops of the frames are cut (I used razor saw) and the hull can be removed.

Gentleman, to the sewing machines! My premiere with the sails (luckily the sails are pre-sawn in the kit with the Bolt rope in place and they are very nice). I just wanted bolt rope to correspond with other running rigging so I cut the original off and replaced it with my own rope. I also did not like the eyes on the original. I think I made it more real, I hope.

Reef points: first row in place (I still need tu cut it to the lenght and shape it) but I have to say that I found something to be as annoying as ratlines! 🧐

I guess the only way to get it done is sit down and work! 2 more rows are waiting.

On the right is sail with kit bolt rope and eyes.

Cutting the reef points. This is a method I come up with.

1.I copied the sail template several times

2. I cut the shape of the "reef line" out of the paper.

3. I insert the template between sail and reef ropes so I can see the lenght and direction

4. I fix the reef ropes straight in correct direction with the tape.

5. Cover the ropes with diluted PVA glue and let it dry

6. Cut the ropes with exacto knife according to the template

It is little bit time consuming but accurate. Works quite well!

Nice work! One sometimes sees models with reef points pointing every which-way; folks either forget or don't realize that lengths of rope have weight -- they will tend to hang vertically.

All ropes for main sail are in place (what a mess)

IMG_20191119_005849.thumb.jpg.5e23f66f1307655948f101feb755a776.jpgIMG_20191119_005938.thumb.jpg.0084a158afc836d198e2abb778ff1a4c.jpg

Now I could secure the mast in position and slowly start to solving that "hairy" puzzle. I must say it is a Joy to go through all the tackles!
