@Kevin I use all kinds of products such as diluted India Ink, diluted wood stain, but also products from AK interactive for wood aging (wash for wood), or different colors for mold or moss (Slimy Grime Light and dark) or rust.
In general, this is enough for weathering. But it still lacks the vegetation (grasses, mosses, soil, etc...) that will come afterwards on the whole.

been out today and bought some Indian inks, pastel chalks and acrylic paints

thank you

Its all part of Kev's journey, bit like going to the dark side, but with the lights on

I finally finished this last block of houses!

They were the last ones in the village. I still have one or two walls left to finish the enclosure and then I go to work on the pedestals.

While waiting for some pictures of the block with its roofs full of angles...

@lmagna

Don't be so definitive about the future of this village!
First of all, there are still a lot of things to be done, starting with the work on the bases, then the paving and all the vegetalization...

Afterwards, maybe there will be a -small - break, but ... : 😁

A seaport or river harbour, I don't know yet (as I told you in PM)... But I'm collecting things to think about it. 😁
I'm also thinking about which side of the village could have an extension.
There are buildings I've been thinking about for a long time that I can't do with the village, such as a warehouse with pontoons, a wooden quay or a medieval washhouse.
And then for a very long time, I've wanted to try resin to simulate water! This village with an extension finally gives me the possibility to do things !

Well, I'm not saying it will be right away, but when you start to think about it often to visualize things... I'm weak, I tend to let myself do it ! 🤣

@lmagna Yes !
There is not much to create a boat from the 14th to the HO scale... So, a friend offered to help me to have a cog that is perfectly consistent with the time, while remaining focused on the construction without spending months only on the boat!
And as it's one of the best I know in 3D with a perfectly adjusted printer... The image above is one of the prototypes in progress.

A 14th century floaty thingy tied up to the quay? that would be the bees knees!!!! Beyond any doubt.....

Hey maybe you could offer some tips on getting into 3D..... (now that resin printers are becoming affordable) That hull looks gorgeous!!!!

@Egilman No, I don't have the skills at all to advise you. That's why I'm calling on a friend who has mastered...
As much as my job could be useful in photography or graphic design, as much in 3D, I'm really bad, except for a few basic notions like everyone else here. ☺️

The only thing I can say about this hull is that the departure is a classic paper plan for a boat of this era.
Once this hull is assembled (in 6 pieces) at the right size, I'll have to do the rigging... and put it in the dock in the middle of other small fishing boats...

I agree  with everyone and some  -  its a privaledge  watching your  building work  here,   every  new post is a  walk  into  a  small scale  piece of mastercraft,   I feel that the only things that could hold you back  are the  - physical  restraints on how much room you have,   and  how far you want to go.

I have been fortunate to have followed you from the beginning.......watching you evolve,  and the village thrive.  I am so impressed with your workmanship,  balancing the use of wood and mortar...your vision is quite strong  ;)   you latest creations are absolutely incredible.  what looks like the edges of the parameters are met......you see the vision that there are no barriers and your world is infinite.  that is the earmarks of the perfect model....no matter how much you add,  it does not create overkill and doesn't upset the applecart!  {I'll bet there's even an applecart in there somewhere ;) }

where do you plans on showcasing this masterpiece......don't you think it ought to be put there,  before you reach the vale?

Thank you for this very complimentary post!
I'm just answering this part: there is no particular place to display this village, except at home like all my other models.
Maybe one day, I will have the opportunity to participate in an exhibition, but for the moment, nothing else.

I'm currently on the terraforming of the bases of the village: not much to show you, it's a long and tedious work!
I also took all the roofs to make them appear more "14th" with older shades, dust between the tiles, moss and a bit of dirt everywhere. It's also quite long to do and I have to make sure that all the roofs have the same weathering.

As soon as I have something interesting to photograph, I'll show you!

In the meantime, I wish you a very happy holiday season! 😉

And thank you all for following this thread... :imNotWorthy:

Ekis,

I’m guessing that like me you won’t be overly sad to bid 2020 adeu. Of course there were good things that occurred, but they were lost sight of with all the chaos around them. That being said, you certainly accomplished a lot this past year! My favorite building so far is windmill. I had forgotten to mention at the time but the attached houses have a fairly modern look to them. They wouldn't get a second look as being out of place or time in any village today. I am patiently waiting for that pissoir to be completed, I really can’t wait too much longer. Gotta go NOW!

Some details on the extension of the Harbour for this village.
Here is a diagram for the situation:

678703628_villageport.thumb.jpg.bf42b6ea2db3dcbaf2d415b0e29ffb78.jpg

At the same time, my friend (for 3D) offered me his help for all the equipment on a scale that would be almost impossible to reproduce in wood with such finesse: various carts, boats, wheelbarrows, grinding wheel, wooden crates, barrels... And I can stay focused on the construction without spending tens of hours on accessories. All this with things I already have in wood and cardboard will give life to the whole!
