The Mayflower by Knocklouder- FINISHED - Amati - 1:60

Looking good…

You sure have an excellent work ethic in your output and production of finished kits. I was stalled for over a year before I tackled the rigging on my Santa Maria.

Yep, the GAC400 is great… look forward to seeing your finished sails.

Cheers!

Julian

Nice sewing

But.

Your main sail looks too small compared with the yard and the whole ship.

@Baker, Can't see the forest from the trees lol. Thanks Patrick, I just noticed that and the foremast lower sail is also too small, no idea what happen there. But  the rest look ok. So my sultion is to try  furling those two sails. I never  have done this so got to go look on how the rolled them up. Maybe they wont look so bad hoisted.. It was going so good too lol.

 Back to my sewing, lol:cheers:

Furling the sails looks a bit difficult, and the size of the sail that I have would be way to big. I must learn how to make sails someday.  So what I decided to do was finish the sails , see how they look the way I make them. We will see. I have the yardarms  done.  Three more sails to hang, then shapping of the sails.

I can feel the wind, plus @Gabek says he has some things that will take all eyes off your mistakes and focus on something awesome.  As soon as Captain Marvin  and I are done zapping each other with x-rays and magnetic ray guns we going to meet up . Can't  wait . Bigger grin, I peeked  they are amazing.

So I still have to hang three more sails, but It will do.

This is so much fun. The model comes together nicely,  craftsmanship  needs work lol, you can add to it, or build  it out of the box, or builded it like I did, but don't look at they way I tie things lol so much to learn lol.  Rigging is going good, have figured out most of it. There is a couple of  Knotts  I got to go look up no biggie  lol.

Back to my  basket weaving, I mean sail hosting  lol.

I like the way your sails look, Bob.  Especially the way you tied them to the yards with double loops.

Thanks Glen, there seems to be a problem with the size of my sail. I don't know what happened.  Maybe because I made them last year and they srank.  The coffee bath  I don't know.

So decided to  carry on with my original plan. First, I decided to try furling.  My one attempt looked like a  Penguin  stuffed and wrapped  ready for the barbaqu.  So back too. Shapping them on bottles and cardboard rolls.

 Thanks for likeing it .

Furling.
The easiest way is to cut the sail lengthwise, so that you still have 1/3 of it left.
and then roll up and tie to the yard.
first try with a surplus of your cloth

The sails are all hung. Now it time to take them off and shape them. Plus I will get a chance to apply all the blocks for rigging  that go on the masts. Some 2 hole blocks go right on the rigging  and some on the mast. I will have to go over the plan carefully  so I don't miss any.  Plus the bitts need to go on as well.

Have to go pick up the First Mate at the airport, her flight was delayed twice today all ready. So she will be a bit tired and Cranky but she will be home finally. :D

A few pictures of the Mayflower, as she sits tonight.  Strom coming  supposed to be windy for a couple of days lol Hopefully I can get the sails back on in a couple of days , we will see.    The flags are just around the corner, I can see them lol

I decided to add the wind today. Iapplied a good coat of GAC 400 to both sides of the sails, rolled them  up and went to the airport while they dried  😀20240415_213330.thumb.jpg.53bcdb889681b313c0caa156f2977d4c.jpg

Now it is a matter of putting  on some blocks, running some lines to the sails  and then the flags. But lots to do yet on the old ship but  like they say" after all tomorrow is another day".  And can't wait to wake up tomorrow and go " rigging"   Take care my friends  thanks for looking

Thinking about the next build  all ready lol.

Thanks @Bryan Woods and thank you so much for all the support.  I am overwhelm, by all who reach out,  thanks. Everyone  MSW/NRG  and so many members Thank you so much.

Today I managed to rig the upper main mast sail as well as most of the Mizzen sail. I know it looks like @Glen McGuire ghost ship Jenny, but once I tighten all the lines up , it will do.

Thanks for looking, I can't wait for tomorrow because I get to do more rigging. Lol. The plans are for the most part helpful, but they don't tell you lots that you really need to know.  Like what size, what color, how the  lines are attached , that sort of thing. But we got a handle on it. And Captain Marvin says he feels the home stretch. Lol. I think he just wants to start another  model. Lol.

All the best my friends, thanks  again

Rigging is coming along nicely  :D  I have the formast and the main mast  tied up , I have to make some rope coils but will do them all later.  I still have to rig the bowsprit sail and the Mizzen sail  but it is

all coming together, at least I know where all the lines go. Should be rapping it up soon. But I have learnt  no to speculate on the amount of time it actually takes  lol.

What a tangled web I got going here lol, it all tried up nicely thought.  0Captain Marvin says he is most impressed.  He is a bit sad I told him he was being replaced by a bunch of Pilgrims.  Lol to make him happy, I told him he could take the wrapper of our next build . He was not impressed 😕  lol.

The ship is looking  good at least for me, this is so much fun. Can you belive rigging is fun ha ha ha I lost it lol. But yes having the time of my life. Thanks NRG/MSW.

This has been a fun adventure, I learnt lots, but still need to learn lots more, so looks like I'll have to renew my membership  again 😀 😊 😉

Thanks so much @HardeeHarHar Brian, it's been a fantastic voyage,  as we go along , we remember things that happened along the way.  Ever time I look at the flower on the sten, I think of you and  your help to make it look at least presentable. And since it will be displayed with the stern showing I will think of you often lol.

Like @HardeeHarHar other members come to mind  @mrcc  the 400 looks good on my sails, I like them. Today I have to thank @David Lester for his tip on rigging  bitts.20240419_123452.thumb.jpg.d56ef0ec19768575ce9c722563743efa.jpg

Frist I pin a headless nail in the bitt. Then rigginged it off ship.

Then I just glued it in place, let it dry really well, then snuged up the line ready for a coil.

That  day is almost here lol. Most likely  will move The Sea of Galilee  Boat to behind certain below , will put a plex glass  front on it . It should hold  SOG and a King of the Mississippi  as well. We will see.

I know the Pegasus  will be in its own case , right by my big chair in the living room.  I still have no idea where too put the two Bluenoses and the Astrolabe.  But that's a long way off.

Your to kind Keith, thank you. I really learned quite a bit on this one. One mistake is on the shrouds. They didn't go as planed, but for the next ship I think I know what to do now. It's all a learning curve  lol.

But I am still Grinning on this one. She turn out wonderful, in IMHO LOL.

Turns out a real eye-catcher Bob. Great build and I truly love those sails.

The color "scheme" of your hull is also gorgeous, love the tones of the wood mixed with the black and white, resulting in an overall balanced look. 👍
