Congrats Richard! That lighting is perfect. Not to overpowering, but still enough to show off that detail. I like that easy access to the battery too. Also, I knew your daughter would love it. Cheers

Help with Proxxon MF70
GLakie replied to Bluto 1790's topic in Modeling tools and Workshop Equipment
It is an adjustment problem, and the adjustment screws are the ones in the first picture. Each one is for one of the cardinal directions. The fix is in the manual on page 7, and on page 2 is a reference diagram. 37110 micro miller mf70 users guide.pdf -

I remember those feelings also. Got them a few times on the different work sites. Show 'em what to do and even demonstrate how to do it, and they still get it wrong. Yeah ---- I've "lost it" a few times!

It's coming together nicely Jay. I'll be great for all on-lookers to see a detailed piece of the inner workings of the ship as well as seeing her in all her splendor in one big display. Now I'm considering something along those same lines. Cheers

Sorry to hear about the mishap Danny. I think the boat was calculated correctly, the mis-calculation was actually in the thickness of the bottle. But like Grant says, I'm sure the fix will be nothing short of genius.

Tilting Table on Byrnes Saw
GLakie replied to jhearl's topic in Modeling tools and Workshop Equipment
Didn't find any videos of the tilt-table but the solution involves making a cradle for both the tilt-table, and the saw itself, and tilting the saw up making the tilt-table level in the process. I own the saw, among other Byrnes tools, but don't have the tilt-table yet. I will be getting it down the road though, and at that point will play around with a design that will work as a home-made jig for it. Tilting the whole saw isn't really a convenient way of using it but it's a whole lot safer. The whole reason this saw doesn't have a tilt-arbor is because you'll lose something in the 90 degree accuracy of it by adjusting it back and forth. By as much as 2-4 degrees... -
I know it's all time consuming, but it's all those little things put together that makes it really pop with detail. Outstanding!

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
